Paint and Chrome Protection

Hey

Any advice on how to protect the paint and chrome on my Avy 200.

I am more concerned about the chrome The auto chaps here are somewhat vague about rust inhibitors. They sort of mumble that they have wax polish but no chrome protector.

For paint I got this formula1 wax. Imported and stuff. Check out Formula 1 High-Performance Auto Care Products
Couldn't find Teflon coating anywhere in Delhi. Any ideas?

Hey,
There is a product called "RUST-LIK" (or rust-lick) available at leading body line dealers. that should help u remove rust if any & maintain the Chrome spares from catching up rust. Otherwise, BRASSO should also do the magic. I have been using this on my Chromed SHocker legs on my bike from 9 yrs.

Tried the formula 1 car wax on my bikes today.
It does a good job on the shine.
The scratches on the old Pulsar still showed, but the paint looked as new as it did three ears ago. The Avy is looking great too. I used it on the chrome without much problem, except had to polish extra hard to get the shine.
I think the best part is its very easy to apply as compared to the Waxpol product.

After buffing the alloy or over paint? Either ways it should be fine no problem.

Clear coats will not adhere to buffed surfaces. I had clearcoated some buffed parts, they started chippinbg away from a corner. ultimately it looked as if it had dandruff.

after cleaning the rust there is a very small dark spot which gathers rust again (where the plating is gone). is there any way to take care of that.

Once I use waxpol, that spot wont rust for another 2-3 weeks or when it rains heavily. Then repeat so that it wont rust. Wipe a lot, you can get rid of the rust totally.

Once the chrome has rusted, you have to take better care to prevent further damage.

Get some Rust-Off (a Bardahl product) or better yet, WD-40 for removing rust. As far as protecting chrome and paint are concerned, ordinary care will do just fine - shampoo and wax every week (get plastic treatment for the plastic parts, DO NOT use the metal wax for them, it won't protect against fading or cracking) and take care to park in shade or cover your bike if there isn't any shade available.
