Suggestions for a First Bike

I'm planning to buy my first bike. I'll be using it for about 10Kms everyday and occasionally 50Kms up+down. I'll be driving mostly in city so Handling is really an important factor.
Mileage should be really good.
I don't know much about bikes as I'm a newbie. I'm not into speed + power a bike has to offer. The only thing right now that matters to me is the handling, mileage and comfort.

My budget is around 50K +/- 10K if necessary.

Thanks.

RTR. Your running doesnt get mileage in any bike - and RTR is FUN for the city.

Yeah, you can believe any gyan and just buy a 125cc stunner but the FUN will come in the RTR wonlee

I would recommend you a 125cc bike like Discover, Honda CBF Stunner.

But if you can stretch your budget a little you can get a Pulsar 150/Unicorn.

Hi Aman,
If you are more of a commuter , then go for the Unicorn, good all rounder but not fun!.

Otherwise Apache RTR 160 , it has fun , good style, excellent build quality, its sporty, best in class handling, mileage 44-45 , comfortable but needs getting used to its seating (like a mini superbike)

New CBZ Xtreme, Hunk are also good!

Also check out the Yamaha FZ16, meant to be good but not seen or driven cant give comments

Avoid Pulsar, as they have poor build quality and very common now a days

FZ16 will be a great choice for you... given that u ride only 10kms per day... but u need to shell out some 15k out of ur budget.

Looking at the requirements a 125cc bike seems more appropriate. You can choose between Honda CBF Stunner, XCD 125 & TVS Flame

Hey for your travel distance, the stunner 125 will be good, or the flame both are good handlers.

Can't help but remember my first mechanised two-wheeler in the early 90s. It was a second hand Yezdi Classic 250. After this I switched over (don't know if it was a downgrade or upgrade or both) to a Hero Honda CD 100 SS and it felt like a bicycle the first few weeks. Later it became an extension of my body.
Be safe with whatever you choose ultimately.

If mainly riding in the city is considered, then IMHO, a bike of 125cc is OK. The Bajaj Platina 125 DTS-Si is a good bike for city riding, returns good FE as well and is reliable.
However, you can also look at Discover 135. This bike is good even for occasional highway stints, has very good performance, FE is also reasonably good.

For mainly city commuting, decent mileage and handling, I'd suggest you to have a test ride of the Honda Shine. Apart from the requirements you mentioned, the low end grunt on this bike is very good for city usage...
Long in the tooth, boring it may look, beneath it lies an ultra reliable machine...

I'm planning to use it for 60kms 3 days a week so what do you think is advisable. I'm short in height and I tried Karizma but it was too damn tall for me so for me a bike that is made for smaller people.
My friend who's a good biker recommended me Yamaha FZ16 and I don't mind spending more if the bike is really good.
He also told me that when driving on an highway I'll need a good aerodynamic bike that'll be sturdy when a truck drives past me, as long as I'm safe I dont mind spending more.

I've rounded off the list to these specific models :
1.Yamaha FZ16 38Km/Ltr Rs. 65,000
2.Apache RTR 160 50-52Km/Ltr Rs. 66,250
3.TVS Flame 67-70Km/Ltr Rs. 54,800
Which one do you think I should buy, keeping in mind that this would be my first bike and handling+comfort.

Leave TVS Flame aside as it is not that highway friendly as Apache and FZ16.
If you are planning to do highway rides more, then I would suggest go for FZ16. It has got good handling and also good ride. Apache is good for city, not that it is bad on highway, but when compared with FZ16, FZ16 turns out better for highway.
