We all know that nothing beats an in-line four cylinder bike when it comes to sound--- the howl, the scream and the wail. However, there are different exhaust layouts among these in-line fours--- 4 into 1, 4 into 2 and 4 into 4 ( old bikes ). My question to experts is which layout on a given bike screams / howls most among these 3 layouts? Can anyone throw some light please?

4 into 1 is the loudest.
