Team-BHP - Bullet Std 350- stuck gear

I was riding home from work last night in pretty thick traffic. Gearbox gets stuck in first gear and refuses to budge. I had to trundle home in first gear.

How it happened (I dont know if its related, but may be)- bike goes into reserve, engine goes off, i depress clutch, turn the fuel cock to reserve, release clutch and the engine comes back to life- all good. But after this the bike would move only in first gear. I've never had this problem before.

Any idea why this is happening and how I can get it right? Its a 87 model std 350 with the right side gearbox.

Hi theres a Gear changer Spring, thats where the problem, it must be stuck or broken. Get hold of a good Bullet mech spring costs abt 15-20rs labour is 50rs and your done.

for any others who encounter the same problem-I thought I was going to have to trundle along in 1st gear to the mechanics place. But you can use your heel to pull the neutral finder up to slot it into 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear. It may not slot exactly into the gear you want, but you can find a higher gear. Mine was mostly slotting into 4th from where I could find the 2nd & 3rd. Useful especially if you mechanic is a bit far away.
