I do take it out but not so often and not too far from my place. Besides the ban still continues and don't want to mess around with cops given their attitude. Cheers

Re: Yamaha RD 350

Guys, I always wished to have one from my college days. Came across an 1989 make which is not in running condition. The guy claims it has been sitting idle for few months and collecting dust, but will run with some overhauling. Now the tricky part, the bike doesn't belong to him but has all the papers, he says it's his friends bike.He buys and sells stuff is what he's claiming. The bike is currently in Bokaro,Bihar and 90k is the asking price. Is that a fair price? Else what could be considering the amount I need to spend on spares?I live in Pune and it's nearly impossible for me to travel to take a look at the bike.

First thing is, should I jump in to get a deal on this bike? Do you think there would be a BHPian in this city who can check the bike for me? The ad was posted a month ago and it's still for sale. Wonder why?

Re: Yamaha RD 350

Hello Archer, I would advise you to stay away from such deals. If he has the papers, ask him to scan it and send it over by email or take a pic and send it over WhatsApp. Along the chasis and engine number prints on the bike. If these details can be verified, you can then check with a Team-bhpian if they can check out the bike for you.

Re: Yamaha RD 350

Hi RD enthusiasts

Please advise if it is alright to go size 1.25 on original bores and 1.25 piston size. Will it be too high a risk considering Indian liners. Presently my RD bores are on 1.00 and now piston slapping is becoming evident.

Thanks buddy. I'm still waiting for a reply from him for just the registration number. I have decided to look elsewhere.

Yes very genuine; I mean, stolen & defunct vehicles for 60K, vehicles without paper for 100K & that too from Pudupet where they also give trouble for free is quite genuine offer is what I believe.

Fake ads

Guys,

There is a huge racket working to cheat people off their money, I have heard at least 50 cases in the last 5 days, with sufficient proofs, read bank cash payment recipts. if its too good to be true, it usually is.

Please don't waste your money trying to get a great deal online. if you are serious about getting a bike, get trustworthy friends from that area(forum is not a place to find such friends) and ask them to check each and every aspect of the bike, getting a stolen bike is not the biggest issue these days, its usually getting nothing and loosing all your money is the biggest fraud these days.

Pramod thanks for the caution !! Hope people listen to this. At the market prices for RD350 these days, any cheap deals in itself should be viewed as a possible fraud, to start with.

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Yes please, buy the wiseco pistons 65.5 MM size and have them bored out. Ensure the clearance is just so that slapping is prevented.

Also if you are tryin to rebore only for the piston slapping, then try and put an ring expander to check if the slapping gets down.

Maverick, Give Ku69RD's suggestion a try (specially If the RD350 is not regular ride). Ring expanders do work reasonably well in my opinion.

Mahesh, probably you can suggest what's the best brand of expander available these days, as well.

Chief,
Would suggest him to search for an old used pair of exanders from old piston kits as long as they do not have any oxidation. Else searching for ART Expanders will be an expensive affair.

Again it depends on the cylinder walls, if there are not much of scores and appears fresh then its worthwhile investing in expanders else I see no reason for using an old one as long as the tensility is good

Lol Thank you

I think it was 1999; there was mechanic whom I used to trust (he has awesome knowledge & skill, but, skimp off minor things that leads to major trouble later) in Egmore; while I was foul crying for RD those days, he took me through few gullies to show a sparkling blue new RD350 that was restored recently. He quoted Rs 56000...read that Fifty Six Thousand for a RD350 in 1999.

In 2009, a good friend of mine (as well as Ron sir) got a RD350 from RDD circle; price was close to 2 Lakhs & had to spend some more for painting. It had original barrels & was owned by someone in their circle.

This is 2016...they're selling RD for 60000
