Resuce

Hey Ritesh. Your manual, though its the 4speed RXZ, is taken care of and will leave by todays courier.

As for all my dear freinds here who really beleive that Yamaha will relaunch the spares for the 100 and 350, I resist to beleive. The recession is on its all time high and Yamaha has no shop. Its got vendors who will not start their old machinery or bother to put production for a limited number of vehicles out there. If such becomes the case, then the charm of owning that beautiflu 100 or that monstorous 350 will be lost. But give it a thought, I wouldn't put production of a particular part that I supply to a company UNLESS I get paid for it handsomely. And if thats the case, then buying spares that are not only not available but very expensive will be a story repeating itself, cos genuine spares will come at a much more higher price than the after market ones already in production. And Yamaha India is already facing survival issues.

Hi all

does this mean, if we have just a frame and engine block , all other parts would now be available from YAMAHA INDIA to built a bike in pristine condition ?

I think, not in Bangalore.

I was looking for a component for my RX100 as recently as last Saturday and the spare parts counter at the dealer said 'out of stock, sir'. And, as very typical to B'lore shop guys, he said 'next week it will come, sir'. It was clearly written on his face that, he himself is not sure about that.

This is a great news!

Regards
Rex

I serioulsy doubt they are going to bring in the spare parts of these two bikes.namely the rx and the rd. I have both and would love it if they do but i shall get in touch with their sales and marketing guy and make sure this news has some steam in it.

Kapil: I kinda beg to differ on your theory. Not everything done by a company is done for direct profits. Yamaha in India had its biggest following during the two stroke period, namely the Rx100 and the RD350. What they are trying to do is revive that old passion, probably this is a form of marketing. See they really dont need to mass produce a lot of the bigger spares, their vendors in the US and Japan have stocks to last a long time. They might come with a premium price but honestly not as much as what the present market quotes. They could produce a lot of the smaller parts which add to the originality, like the rubber parts, levers, lenses, etc.

Recession hasn't stopped many of the motorcycle companies releasing their CBUs. They are not aiming at the mass, its just a select few people. You wont believe how pleasing a group of biking enthusiasts goes a long way, ask the Royal Enfield people.

It might or might not be true, but this is authentic news from a reputed person, so it does carry some ground. Its just good for us.

Cheers buddy

Thats a good beginning by Yamaha, India. They have realised that we just don't junk bikes and cars after five years of use in India. Though one changes them for new ones in many cases, the older ones change owners and run till everyone is tired or the automobile retired. Retirement from the roads can be due to non-availability of spares, which is a major reason.
I have a 1990,RX 100 and will find solace in Yamaha's long term plans.Thats way I had no problems ever in getting Genuine Spares from Yamaha showrooms since 19 years! I can sense the hardships my friends with the RD 350 might have faced all these years to keep the superbike in ship-shape.
I can only hope that other manufacturers (both foreign and Indian) can take sue from Yamaha's decision and make spares available for a long, long time to come.
Especially there are many old, imported Mercedes Benz, BMW, Mitsubishi,Honda, Toyota, Nissan/Datsun,Chevrolet, Ford and many other cars all over the country, which are now sold in India but were imported earlier and their spares can be made available by the company to gain customer loyalty and confidence.
But there is a turn-off: The old Mercedes Benz spares are available cheaper in many spare part shops, but are very scarce and are prohibitively costly in company showrooms. These should be affordable and not astronomically priced.

Tuffryder: Yamaha in order to revive the old passion has launched the r15 and the fz16. Both performance bikes which give todays rider a taste of their illustrious past in india. They have no logical reason to bring back the spares of bikes taken off the shelf long ago. Also they have the r1 and the mt 01 to futher their claim of being a performance brand.I would seriously love some genuine spares for my 1986 rd and 1994 rx. Thats why i said earlier i would definately catch the guy in the company dealing with these things and ask him straight before i start to rejoice.

What i believe is that Yamaha will launch some fast moving parts like Clutch plates, cables, sprockets & chains, oil seals, rubber items & gaskets.. infact most of these items are still in production within India by local manufacturers .. for example, Escorts parts division still produces the rear shock absorbers od RD350. Yamaha can easily get them packed in their RED- packets and sell them via their outlets.
