re: My Enfield Cafe Racer Project

Has anyone in India heard anything about the new Royal Enfield Cafe model becoming available in 2013?

Here is a link which claims it will be available somewhere in the later part of 2013.

re: My Enfield Cafe Racer Project

My Enfield Cafe Racer story is now coming to a close. I will soon be selling the bike. Before that I thought I'd post the latest pictures. Here is a final list of the mods I made to my 2002 cast iron Enfield 500:

32mm flatslide carb with free flow air filter
Gold-star-type free-flow exhaust with glass wool filling
Oil cooler with high output oil pump
Connecting rod with big-end bearing
Rear-set brake, gear-shifter and pillion footpegs
CNC machined billet aluminium top yolk and fork braces
Chrome-plated fuel tank
Modified rear sub-frame
Under-seat tool kit box
Tarozzi high-rise clip-ons
Enfield thunderbird headlight
Smith replica meter
Bar-end mirrors
Throttle boss
Helmet lock and seat release

I was clocked at 135 once, but I never quite got the carb set just perfectly for a good speed run. Also I would have needed to put in hotter cams to boost top speed more which I didn't do due to several reasons.

Anyway here are some pics of the bike I took last weekend.

nice work!! kindly put some pics from the rear as well. By the way what tyres did you get for the rear??

Mod note - Please avoid quoting an entire lengthy post as it inconveniences our mobile and small screen users.

I used a Thai IRC 100-90 on the front and a Chinese Kings 110-90 on the rear. Both tyres are pretty soft and grippy (as long as you get new stock). Here is a pic from the rear.

500modder, I like your fork yoke. My experience on my 500 Standard (2002), with a similar CNC machined 3 piece aluminium yoke (TZR copy) was that the bike started pulling badly to one side. The moment we took it off, the bike handling returned to neutral.

Sounds like bent forks or a defect with the yoke that causes the downtubes to be misaligned. I didn't have any issues like this. I guess the friend of mine who designed the pieces got his CAD drawings right
