How to get rid of misfiring on my Fiero F2?

Hi all,

My bike TVS fiero f2 misfires very frequently. This problem is seen almost from 2 years now. Shown it to many auth. centers, local mechanics, well almost all but this problem is not gone until now. Whats the exact reason of not vanishing this problem, mechanics do some adjustments and this problem kreeps up the very second day. Any help would be much useful.

Thanks,
Ramki.

I think this is a problem with TVS Victor as well! My brother has one and it misfired to the point of embarassment. Local mechanics and the showroom clowns were of no help. Its starts for no reason and stops magically.
After considerable aging it stopped. It does not misfire anymore.
Check your spark plugs and engine speed at idle. It has something to do with that.

1. Check the petrol quality first.

2. Check air filter.

3. Do a compression check.

The F2 misfires badly coz it runs hopelessly lean. Just put a 100 main jet and it will all disappear. 100 main jet if off a shogun, FYI. And you'll notice a slight improvement in performance too.
Replace the spark plug as well if its run over 15k kms for better results.
The classic Fiero never had a secondary air injection system to lean the circuit, hence it was no-nonsense.

Thanks very much fieroid. Whats the current size of stock main jet on Fierof2? Pardon my innocence. Is this the thing you are talking about which needs to be put in carburettor?

MIKUNI MAIN JET 100 [ADLY/TNG/YAHAMA JOG] - $9.95 : WHIDBEY ISLAND MOPED, SPEED AND MOD SHOP

or this one?

Main Jet - Size 100 - 376/100-100 - AMAL Carburetter Company

Is their any specific brand which i should look out for?

If changing to these, will their be any change to the sound of the engine?

Thanks,
Ramki

A 4 stroke will only misfire if you are running super lean or some problem with your HT coil whereas its not producing spark, joel is suggesting you to upjet coz upjetting may solve your misfire problem, no your engine wont sound more don't worry.

Mr Ramki, being on a super educative forum like team-bhp you should not be asking me this
The stock Fiero jet is 97.5. Just get a 100 main from the shogun. These are OE jets and are available if you look around. OE ones are made my UCAL Mikuni.
No man sound wont change. You are only richening the mixture by a fraction to improve the AFR - Air fuel ratio.
I suggest you pls do some reading on engine and fuelling basics. It will solve a lot of your doubts.

@Prajeep - There is never a HT coil problem detected on a Fiero, its left to the RXs. . Its only super lean and a plug change will help further.

Tvs Fiero F2 has a secondary air injection system which was not present on the Fiero, and it is the main culprit for the misfire. Remove it. It must solve the problem. It solved the problem for me.

If you want to improve the performance and fuel efficiency of your F2, then change the head and silencer to that of a apache (not apache RTR). It makes hell a lot of difference. The vehicle becomes smoother, faster and more fuel efficient. I have done it on my bike and it is worth every penny. Get it done from Zen motors. They are the best people when it comes to TVS bikes in bangalore.
