jaisha, your ride makes me really jealous.

RX100 is my all-time favourite, though I never owned one.
I remember pestering my father to go for RX-100. But he bought IND-SUZUKI AX-100 instead. Loved that bike too. We sold it after 90000kms.

IMO, the USP of RX-100 is its awesome SOUND (Engine sound).
One of my friend bought RX-135 when RX-100 was discontinued, but he fixed the silencer of RX-100 just for that SOUND EFFECT.

Yamaha 2 strokes being the only ones surviving as there is some availability of parts.but with the demand for these bikes going up in the recent times getting spares now a days is difficult. especially the OE ones. the replacement engine kits are no where near in performance compared to the OE jap cylinders .

long live the legend

Spotted a RX-100 in my neighbourhood (Bangalore).

Not being used(fully covered in dust),
Delhi registration,
77000 kms run.

How much can I buy this for?

Just wanted to do some homework before approaching the owner.
Can I have approximate range for negotiation?
(Assuming that papers are intact).

@Nathan - While I agree with Spit fire & assuming the papers are good, what is the purpose of buying an RX?

Just for fun and the pride of owning my favourite bike.
I won't use it for daily commuting. But would ride in weekends and that too in-city.

I would say depends on the model and the engine condition.

Remember you will need to shell out some for bringing the bike to decent condition.

Another publicity brochure of the Yamaha RX 100, from perhaps 1989. The rear luggage carrier was quite typical of the RX 100's. It was discontinued sometime in early 1990:

Whoa! This picture has authentic 80's written all over it. A young Sunil Gavaskar endorsing the RX100. Priceless

Am literally in tears seeing the good old advertisements of the RX100 as I remember the RX my brother got in 1989. I used to envy him riding the bike and finally I got it when he moved to the US for his employment. I sold the bike in 2007 as it started giving me lot of problems after it was rebored as the job carried out was not upto the mark. I sold it for a mere Rs15000. It was still in top notch condition and the beat was as good as ever!
I regret the sale!

Dear Anjan sir, thanks a ton for posting these pics. I very much miss my bikes when I see these pictures. I'm impatiently waiting to come to India during Christmas so that I can have fun with my bikes.

Please keep posting.

Regards,
Jose

Re: Yamaha RX100 - Still in great demand

What a coincidence, just today my friends 22 Yrs old Silver RX100 needed a carb change. I was thinking whether there is any thread for RX100's on TBHP and i stumble upon this thread. BTW good Rx100's are hard to find these days, most available either have been abused or have issues with papers.
