Have anybody seen the Yezdi Fire and Flame which were imported by Ideal Jawa and sold in India. I have seen one model each which were driven by Palestanian students in Mysore during 1994-95

I'm not sure why "ALL" Yamaha models should be considered as Failures.

Yes, I'm biased because I have a Yamaha for the last 12 Years.
Primary reason for the "death" of all the 2 strokers were the emission norms.

Yamaha models (except a few Crux is one of them) was never supposed to be a bike for the masses, its for that group of people who are willing to sacrifice economy for performance.

Calling "ALL" Yamaha as dud's is really illogical.
They cater the needs of the targeted users.

R15 is the last example.
So calling it a failure is stupid.
Just look at the India racing circuits if you need clarification.

Coming back to the topic.
  • Hero Honda Sleek
  • Enfield Diesel (Taurus was the name I think)
  • Suzuki Shaloine

Libero was a pain to look at. Those headlights were
Crux was actually doing well in Pune atleast.
It used to return some amazing mileage figures.

I guess no one has yet mentioned Bajaj Sunny which was kind of a FLOP but a lot of fun to ride if you were 12 and your uncle left the keys at home accidentally .

Actually, my uncle seemed to like all the flops..He also the Avanti scooter. Boy, was it a bone shaker.

Bajaj Eliminator ? I think that bike was really really good . It feels sad to have that bike a flops list . Although it was over priced ( arnd 85k ? ) goin by its time , it was quite fair for a power of 15bhp 8yrs back .
May be 80k for a bike during that time was quite a lot and thats the reason pple buy avengers n not the so called " eli's " those days .

Wat do u guys think ?

Internal snippet from TVS when I used to work there: There will never be another TVS with a name ending in "ra" cause their most spectacular failures had such names:

Astra
Supra
Spectra
Centra

All of these were spectacular only in the way they failed in the market. All but the centra were ahead of their time, all had major mechanical issues, and all were launched using a prominent celebrity of the time (or at least so I remember)

Kawasaki Eliminator? AFAIK, Eliminator was never a flop as It was never intended to sell in big numbers by Bajaj, rather it was a brand building exercise ahead of Pulsar's lunch. Even the engine along with lot of other parts were imported directly from Kawasaki. And what, It did the job of building up the brand image for Bajaj as a bike manufacture.

AFAIK, it was sold only as the 'Pulse - Rhythm of Life', so said the decals.

Another LMLs that bombed were the LML Smart and LML Prithvi.

The Bajaj Discover came in millions of avatars like Discover 110, Discover 125, Discover 135, and now the Discover 100. Although the Discover sold in decent numbers, I think some versions've failed.

Hero puch automatic ( I think it was called the "stepmatic" ) was a big flop. The 2G and the SHAKTI did decent business though.
