This is good news for people who wanna take r15 to the track and they have mods from the company itself, I think it might be a little expensive as compared to after market, but yamaha will surely know what they are putting on..so they can repair them when needed with sure shot troubleshooting..?? what say guys ??

Those who are into tracks and stuff like that would go for the kits, The rest would think about buying another bike with those 50,000 bucks

The ECU remap gets the 1st thumbs up. and since these are all modular kits per se, you can ick and choose based on what kinda performance you would like to get out of your bike. a fully kitted R15 may be best suited on the track. so, its really worth it if full throttle riding is what you'd do all the time.
good job yamaha. looking fwd for TVSs' response.

I think these kits will be installed only after a signing a bond that the bike will be used only on the tracks and not on roads. I read this somewhere, not sure. Correct me if i am wrong .

You are correct but how many would really adhere to the bond rules?

I don't think thats true. I haven't read it anywhere. Could you throw some evidence? And BTW is there any race track here??

Yamaha won't do that as it would it not help them uplift their sales.
Besides who would buy the bike just for track use not for street.

Yamaha knows India's customers thinking and would not do such a thing

Guys:
I had checked out the price of kits in a Yamaha showroom when I went 10 days ago with my friend to pick up his FZ.

The price is almost 65K - Autocar mentions that the kit consists of various components - ECU Remap, Sprocket, silencer etc which could be chosen individually. They guys there were totally unaware about the details about the kit.

Autocar says that the power boost should be around 30% - Thus making the power output to 22 BHP.

I may invest in this after Bajaj reveals the pricing of its Ninja 250 - For me, it is better to pick up a Bajaj 220 DTSi @ 83K instead of spending 65K on this kit. (18K difference and you get an extra bike )

Anyway since I already plonked a huge amount into R15, and I am tormented incessantly whenever I lose in local MotoGPs in Bangalore, I might invest this insane amount to soothe my (badly) bruised ego

Obviously expensive stuff but at least Yamaha is taking the initiative to come up with something like this. So, cheers for that.

Cheers,

Better to wait for a new bike in the 250-350 cc range, rather than buy a r15 and add 65k of kitting.

wish the 250-350 cc bikes are here soon.

Do we have any pics of this baby ? Would be interesting to see and then comment. So that makes the bike in the price range of 1.50 L t 1.65 L. Hmm..this may be a great marketing move as well. Guys who want to give R-15 a miss for the Ninja, would now think seriously. Would be interesting to wait for BAL's move next, rather than TVS.

I remember now. It was in one of the Car & Bike show which comes in a News channel. They clearly mentioned that the kit was available only after signing the bond. This was about 2 months back. May be Yamaha changed the rules later .

Please check this link :
Official Racing Kit Parts by Daytona For Yamaha R15 and FZ16

It says " These parts will be available from September’09 onwards and are exclusively for racing purpose in a closed circuit only."

This kit is good only for those who are seriously into track events besides these kits are not road legal i.e. its illegal to ride the bike with this kit on public roads

Whats wrong with the current tire? I hope you are aware that its a special soft compound tire on the R15 which is not available otherwise off the shelf. Dont go by its looks.
