Shan, can we change the silencer before the run-in period?

hi !

Try avoiding the change if you have not done 1200kms . If you have then you can opt for the Short bubble/bottle from RE right now. But dont go for goldstar before 5k kms.

Hi Shan,
Please do not go for any aftermarket silencer. Original silencer produces one of the best melodious sound.

Thanks Everyone

First of All, Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
Gordon - if you have more pics of bullet (any make and model with different colour and accessories), please PM me or post here for everyones advantage.

Sorry to All as I am goinng really going very slow on this project. What i have decided is that first i get enough suggestion from everyone, than based on all your quality suggestion, i will make a blueprint, which would be criticized/approved by everyone.

I know project would go on snail pace because this would be my last two wheeler project :(.

Once again i request all of you guys to flow in pics and suggestions.

Regards,
Shubhendra Singh

This bike looks swwet mate. The bumpers would look better if they were a bit more curvy

Hi Desideep,
Nice pic, Can you please tell me from where you get your bull serviced. As i am new in delhi, it would help me to go to a tried and trusted mechanic for this work, because i can not take second chance .

Latest Update

Sorry Guys,
Could not update for long time, was very busy in making PPTs, and going to Tata Showroom everyday ( i bought a Safari 2.2 10 days back). Now everything is settled and Safari is less demanding .
In pursuit of my search for good mechanic and painter, i travelled across Delhi (Karol Bagh, Jhandewallan, Mayapuri etc etc etc) but i was not that lucky. i had some thoughts very clear in my Mind
a. Mechanic should have enough time to talk to me roam with me for parts and update me.
b. He should not fool me (quote high price, change my spares etc.)
c. Dont finish this project in Jiffy.
d. Should be close to my place so that i can visit his place daily.

I know i was asking too much from mechanic, but whatever vehicle i worked on, i always kept these things in mind. But these projects were executed at my home town, but finding these qualities in Metro was near to impossible.
Then accidently i met with a gentleman in Kalkaji (near to my place) to change my rear bearings, during discussion and his way of working i really liked his attitude and knowledge but.................... he didnt have a proper shop. He works on footpath and keep his all tools in a big wooden Box.
But i made my mind to get him involved in this project because he is working on Bullet from last 20 years.
Now comes to question of what design should i go for. so i answered my questions (my opening post).

1. Colour – Cream Color on darker Shade and going for old retro look.
2. Petrol Tank – retaining same tank with side rubber pads.
3. Seat – not decided but most probably go for older scooter type seats.
4. Silencer – original.
5. Rear Mudguard – Going for older round type ones.
6. Rear Light – going for Phantom type Lights
7. Front Shocks – going for older design but with new model Springs under it.
8. Rear Tyre – going for MRF 3.50x19

Update 2:: Getting spare Parts

So after deciding everything it was time to execute what i dreamed for a really long time. here is pictures of my bike before restoration. Although it does not look that bad but i could not wash it from last two months and some rain during that time added good amount of work for Mechanic/Painter.

We (me and my mechanic) went for a small shooping for spares which needed to paint with bikes, that includes
1. Front Mudguard
2. Rear Mudguard with suppoort
3. Rear drum (Original drum was not good anymore)

This was three days before Diwali. My original plan was to start project on 14th Oct and complete the project on 25th Oct that would be followed by one week test drive then i was thinking of going to my home town (800 kms) from Delhi on 30th Oct.
As per my plan we started project on 14th October.
14th October : initial procurement for paint was done
15th October : Strip whole bike/chasis/Engine
16th October : Give parts to painter and Nickelwallh

Everything was completed was on time from my mechanic's end, but now due to Diwali Celebration everything is getting delayed. And we got all spares from painter and Nickelwallh today.
Tomorrow rest of the spares (right from nut bolts to seats) everything would be procured new from Karol Bagh to get long trouble free service from my bike.
Guys i would show you final product within two-three days.

Regards,
Shubhendra Singh
