Which bike to buy: Honda Vs HeroHonda Vs TVS Vs Bajaj

Hi Everyone,

I have finally decided to replace my every faithful P180 DTSI - Gen I. I am in a grave confusion in deciding which bike to buy.

P180 has served me well for all these 6 years, but off late has been giving me lots of trouble. I have spent a fortune on the machine but still doesnt ride any-where near my lowest level of satisfaction.

The new bike which I intent to buy needs to be a true VFM. Below are my expectations:

i. The bike needs to help me commute trouble free 30 kms/day with less strain on my back. With P180 eventhough the rides were fun, my back huts after 15 km one-way ride to my office. *The roads to my office are real bad*

ii. The bike should give decent mileage (55 to 60/65 km/l)

iii. Confident on Highways at optimal high speeds (70 - 80 kmph)

iv. Trouble free for atleast 3 years.

I have zeroed in on XCD135 Vs Discover DTSi 100 Vs RTR160 Vs Honda Stunner Vs Splendor Plus.

My Budget is around 50 to 60k. If RTR is to my liking, I dont mind stretching my budget.

Also, I heard Discover DTSi 100 is great VFM, but once again its bajaj!!

Please provide me with your inputs and reviewes in finding my pair of wheels.

Thanks,
Arun

Go for the RTR160 if I can suggest. People complain about vibrations & lower seating position, but I think it is pretty comfortable. A black RTR looks macho in my opinion.

Also, I havent seen many reviews/comments on Suzuki GS 150R & TVS Flame here. Don't you want to consider them?

Suzuki GS 150 is a good choice. The only bike with 6 gears. Costs 68,000 on road in Bangalore. I am getting 60 KMPL for my style of riding. Does not exceed 60 KMPH. Smooth driving. Build quality is superb. The bike feels slightly heavy. Reliability is excellent.

I also own 2007 Suzuki Zeus. It has completed 40,000 KMS. The rear brake shoe / battery was replaced at 28,000 KMS. Front Brake Shoe and Rear Tyre / Tube replaced at 34,000 KMS. Front Tyre changed at 36,000 KMS. Gives 55 KMPL. Only the engine oil was changed at every service.

If you are a bachelor, you can also try Yamaha FZ 16. Good bike. But pillon rider comfort is not that good especially for women wearing sarees.

Hi,
Go for Apache 160 RTR
1>Good Looks
2>Best Handling ,Best breaks, great fit and finish and.very good fit and finish.
3> Best Engineered Bike at the price vibrations its not much problem all bike vibrates and it has over square bore so expect slight vibration but amazing response from the throttle.
4> Very good head light beam and good instrument cluster.

You can also consider new flame 125 it has great looks and it is also a good bike.

@MutantX:

For Your requirement, to me, THE BEST POSSIBLE BIKE IN INDIA CURRENTLY is HONDA UNICORN. Slightly out of your budget but still GET IT MAN. what three years it will run for 7yrs without much issues. Has the best suspension in its class. And yeah mileage too above 50. My friend took a new one recently. he is getting around 53-55 kmpl. His purchase price in Cochin was 64k.

TVS to me has yet not been so good. Someone said vibration is not that big a thing! As far as my biking exp over the past decade says, vibration is a major part. RTR 160 sucks. yeah but it handles well though. but then TVS brand name is not too good. Bad resale. An RTR friend of mine is having problems with service.

A bike like Yamaha FZ has so much hype attached to it. it doesnt have a gud top speed. neither does it have a gud mileage! wonder what that is made for!

People just dont know the worth of Honda Unicorn. I dint go for it just because Iam kind of a mad rider I needed power. Otherwise any day, any night, Honda Unicorn is my choice.

Thats it.

Note: Iam a P220 DTSi owner.

Haha Sam! My p180 DTSi was one of the first in chennai. I sold my 3 month old splendour to buy the P180.

I really feel that only one Pulsar can replace another. I am really tempted to buy the P180 Gen 4 / P220. Let me test drive the vechiles and then decide.

Any one in here has test driven Discover 100 cc DTSi?

I have an eye on this bike too. Waiting for the new Karizma to hit the roads before making a decision.

If you are looking for 125 cc, check out Honda CBF Stunner & TVS Flame.

In 150 cc, Suzuki GS 150R & Honda Unicorn are good options.

Let me have a look. Do you guys suggest Bajaj Discover 100 CC DTSi that was launced last month. I have a serious back-ache and find it difficult to ride any bike that is/looks big. I am going to test ride all these machines before coming to a decision.

Guys, anyone who had a chance to test drive Discover DTSi 100 cc?

Your input is much appreciated.

Thanks, Arun

Since you complain of back-ache, I too would suggest the GS150R - has a decent riding position, and gives good mileage too.
