Thx. I will get this done from my mechanic here in Pune.

For this you will have to get a bracket welded to your chassis, and you will have to change the ignition switch to that of the RXZ for central locking. Though its hard to come by these days.
Have you or anyone tried this out? If you have any pictures of this alteration, can you please share them. I can then have a fair idea of it and can get it done since i had enquired some mechanics and they had never tried this. For the availability of the ignition switch, i am sure it will be available in Nanapeth area.

Its a very simple procedure. Any welder would be able to do it.

Procure the lock set first. (i.e ignition switch), and u will be able to make out where u have to weld the small stopper on the chassis frame.

Re: Yamaha RX 100 Queries

I am planning t put the new RXZ central lock on my bike today. Also upgrading my headlight setup. Do you have idea where i can find Stanley 55/60 Bulb (H4) in Pune?
I had the original headlight Stanley sealed beam assembly (Japan) on my KB100 and the light throw was superb.

Re: Yamaha RX 100 Queries

How do I find out if the Autolube pump is working on not, without removing the pump.

Is there a way to do it? The bike is a '92 RX100.

Assuming that you are talking about the oil pump, and the oil container is filled with 2t, - open the pipe that connects the oil pump to the carb (remove the carb side of the pipe) and rev the bike. If u can see the oil coming out of it when u rev, then the oil pump is working.

You don't have to remove the oil-pump to do this.

The amount of oil coming out is very minimal. I have to squeeze the pipe just to see if there's any oil coming out. Is that good enough?

Also any idea where I can get:
1. An 'unused' Mikuni carburetor for an RX100;
2. The neutral wire rubber cap for the same.

Any help would be appreciated!

So your pump is working, now go to the mechanic, get the oil pump cover opened and adjust the oil flow as required. A steady flow of smoke from the exhaust ensures that oil is reaching the engine.

As for the spares, I would recommend you to place an order at the "Yamaha Factory Shop" in your area. Can't help with other locations as I am from Mumbai.

Cheers !

who has not only fitted RX100 with disc brakes but also a remote start (KiHo starter and car anti-theft remote!) way back in 2000!! So the rebuild is really endless.

Does anybody know a good mechanic in Mumbai Western Suburbs, who can fix a RX100. Please let me know.

Assuming that you already figured this out however, i am still going to reply for new people to gain knowledge.

a 4 stroke tacho will always read double the rpm than what actually is. You have to connect 3 wires to make a tacho work. +12 volts, Ground and the pulse from the HT coil, if you can build a circuit that can divide the pulse by 2 and give an output, this output can be used to feed the tacho.

RDD CDIs have a tacho out, but buying an RDD CDI just for the tacho out would be a waste of money.

The circuit is simple and can be built pretty easily.

Re: Yamaha RX 100 Queries

Need help in finding a good 2 stroke mechanic in mysore for my rx 100. It’s a 1995 restored Rx100 by a friend from Kerala. The bike is quite smooth after restoration. However, I have noticed 2 issues:
1) Gear shifting feels tight while downshifting from 2nd gear to 1st gear and sometimes the lever gets stuck at neutral while downshifting.
2) Though the initial pick is good, but I feel it requires little adjustment for higher RPM.
Kindly suggest a good mechanic and contact details.
