RE Classic 350 - Initial ownership

Hi,

I just got back from the dealer with my black Classic 350.

The dealer was Ess Aar Motors in Jhandewalan (Delhi).

Feeling just superbly ecstatic!

The buying experience was fine, with almost no hitches. Got insurance from Oriental. Also installed a leg guard, which I bought from the dealer himself.

Took a couple of test drives before I agreed to buy the particular piece. Tried to check it as comprehensively as I could. (Thanks to Randhawa for the tips)

The trip from the dealer started with a guy in a white Corolla touching the bike from behind. Stupid n00b. And this was when I hadn't even moved out of the Dealer's lane.

Anyways it was a very light one. After struggling to kick start it (yeah, I am a newbie but this was because the fuel was pretty low), moved on. Was accompanied by my grandfather in a car.

Next stop was to tank up. With Rs.615 worth of fuel in the tank, I moved on.

The trip back home was 14-15 kms and I realised how tough it could be to drive it in stop and go traffic. :P

Basically I found the clutch to be slightly on the harder side. It might be because I was pressing it with my fingers closer to the hinge. Anyways, will get used to that.

This was about it for the trip back home.

Stopped at a Gurudwara for Ardas and then home.

Clicked a few pics for everyone.

Congratulations!!! Can you please share the pricing information with us? Bullets are a bit hard to drive in stop go traffic but they have their own charm on open roads.

Congrats! , I think the RE 350 is a better buy than the 500 but then it's just my view.
Will eagarly be follwing this tread on the initial ownership experience. In Kolkata it's about 110k OTR, how much is it in Delhi.

It came to Rs. 1,03,000 on road. This includes registration, tax and insurance amounts.

Hehe yeah! I wanted a green 500. Had to step down to Maroon 500... then Maroon 350 and finally ended up with a black 350.

Still love it completely!

I used to drive a Zen till now. Earlier back I used to ride a RX-100. So, yeah a totally different vehicle.

Thanks man!

A few more things:

The chain cover has been changed. Mine came with the new design.

Thankfully the kick shaft isn't leaking. Lets hope it doesn't! (I don't want my RE to mark its territory or anything!)

The suspension is great... very comfortable riding till now. Not very comfortable with driving it in stop-go traffic, lets hope I get used to it soon.

Thanks a lot for the wishes guys!

Wow! Brilliant. Congratulations on owning this beauty.
I shall keep a close watch on this thread.
Do keep the thread up to date as you start munching miles on this legendary bike with new heart. I really hope that you would not face those constant small niggles that the older REs had.
Btw, i shall head straight away to the brand store and will ask him if they could retrofit these OEM split seats on my Electra 4S.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Would be great if you could upload more.
Cheers,
Deepak

PS: +1 to the above question. I don't even want to imagine that mile long exhaust on the 500s. With smaller wheels, it would look horrendous.

Congrats man, welcome to the family!!

I heard that you cannot put an upswept silencer in the classic 350, it is only for 500s.. is it true?
Did you at least hear the upswept one? How is it?

It's not true, I saw a 350 here in Kolkata with the upswept silencer in Maroon colour.
