A friend(Tbhpian) recently went to Pune Probiking for booking a P 220. He was insformed that another cheaper(will confirm price once its known) variant of P220 is coming.

This one would most probably be a non faired bike with looks similar to those of the earlier P200

I will update this thread once i get more info :)

Great news techno will be keeping any eye on this thread. Keep us informed.

Should i add that it shall come with a rear disc brake and in most probability will come with 55w lamps but no projector lamps,
this is the most scooped mews i have got, rest shall be out tommrow:)

Thankgod finally. cheaper and better  .

The Pulsar's fairing looks like a lion's mane (the skinny, starving, abused lions you find in Indian zoos).

wish they give a FZ16 style headlight.

Read on xbhp. It is 3000INR cheaper when compared to the existing P220 F (Fairing) and will be called 'S' for Streetfighter or something of the sort perhaps. It is the present P220 minus the fairing which means loosing the awesome projector setup and the old bikini fairing of the P150/P180/P200 is back on it with regular halogens of 55W.

A bike just minus the fairing? Lessons from Yamaha?

Ha ha ha! That was a good one! Well yes it is huge and sometime inconvenient but they are sacrificing the projector lamps to normal halogens.

Instead of the normal fairing found on 150/180, if they give it a fully naked look like FZ, it would be much better. Else everything from 150 up to 220 will look the same.

I guess Bajaj had put up the faired and non-faired (identical to P200) versions on display (at the Probiking showroom) exactly a year back to gather public feedback/opinion on the same. clap:

The non-faired variant will be good for all those guys who are fed up with the fairing vibrations and don't want to compromise on power.

EDIT: Found the pic that I had seen a long time back. Attaching it here.

Yes Sheel, its essentially the same bike minus the faring & the OTR in Pune is Approx 74k which is roughly just 1k more than RTR 180 :)

Thanks for putting up the pic MurtazaGhiya

The websites (bsm, aci, motoroids etc) have this info, IIRC. And the sooner the companies get rid of the fairings, the better. Starting with the ZMA, the Pulsars, the HH's, every one.

Why do you want every bike to get rid of fairing, to lower the price?

Actually the fairing on CBF-Stunner, Fazer and R15 is kind of a revelation, simply no rattles(if maintained properly and no rash riding on rough roads)

personally i prefer a fairing(a la Fazer-1000) is most appropriate for our road conditions and high speed touring, pleasantly came across this aspect while riding Fazer and FZ(both by Yamaha India:D) back to back, you feel the wind hitting you less @90kmph and above on the Fazer

Here are the scoop pics of the new streetfighter in flesh! The new bike brings back the styling standard set by the Pulsar 200 and houses within itself the highly acclaimed 32mm venturi carbureted 220cc engine from the 2009 Pulsar 220 DTS-i. Doing duty as the front suspension are the 37mm telescopic forks mated to clip-on handle bars. This setup made the Pulsar 220 one of the lightest bikes when it came to steering in city traffic. With the bulky quarter fairing exchanged for a lighter bikini fairing from the old Pulsar 200, we expect the naked 220 to be an even better urban tool! The bike will also incorporate a rear disc brake assembly which essentially employs the same 230mm rotor that has been doing duty on the Pulsar 220 since its fuel injection days.

The naked bike will continue using the same 17” rims as the quarter faired version which means you still get the 90/90/R-17 and 120/80/R-17 tubeless MRF Zappers at the front and rear respectively. The new bike gets the all-black garnish for the engine, forks, swingarm, handlebars and the rear grabrails. The naked 220 will continue using the same rear fender as the bigger 220, though we would have loved it more had Bajaj incorporated the same floating tail assembly as on the Pulsar 135LS. The new bike uses the same exhaust canister as the defunct Pulsar 200 – thus maintaining its muscular character. The bike will hit Bajaj’s Pro Biking showrooms before the end of this month at a sticker price of Rs. 73,000. A 21PS naked street fighter at that kind of price sounds like an even bigger steal than the quarter faired Pulsar 220.

Pics of the new 220 have started floating the net, esp. Orkut. People claim that the bike has been launched in Chennai and have got pics from there. Not sure if the same is the case with Pune PBK.

EDIT: Pics from Motoroids: http://www.motoroids.com/component/c...220-naked.html

I'm not sure if the new variant is a rumour or true news. Anyways time will tell.
