I believe your CL500 akin to my Tbird500 uses 12V 14Ah battery. Earlier we were stuck with unreliable Exide, but now thankfully Amaron has started offering 14Ah battery.
Navin_v8 - This forum is all about sharing the information and experiences . It was for the 1st time in the ownership of 8 years I faced this issue. Other occasions it was easy guess that the battery had drain out of life. This is my fourth battery and as of now it's holding good.
Had an interesting observation though;
The 1st one lasted 3 years - good amount of usage of the bull for commute.
The 2nd one lasted 2 years - less usage compared to the duration above.
The 3rd one lasted just 1.5 years - usage of bull reduced further
The 4th one in use for last 1.5 years holding on good - usage of bullet has increased again.
Have been using Exide batteries all the while.

You can use a simple 1A trickle charger and almost double you battery life when your bike is not in use or infrequently used. Have been using it on most of my bikes and none of them have given me a battery life of less than 3~4 years till now.

Cheers...

Re: The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!

Is it possible to install C500 clutch plates in my 2017 C350? If yes then can anyone suggest the parts required for the swap. What are the potential pros and cons of the swap? Also is it mandatory to change the engine oil whenever new clutch plates are installed.

My C350 clutch seems to be on the way out. The kicker isn't moving freely with the clutch engaged and the motorcycle jerks forward slightly whenever I engage 1st gear. The same issue occurs when I use the ES on 1st gear as well.

TIA

Re: The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!

Hey BHPians,

My brother has a classic 500 2013 model. Its hardly been used for the past few years. I want to being it back to its best condition and also do some asthetic mods to make it look new and give it a refreshed look.

Things i have in mind are :
1) Complete service/repair/replacement of parts needed.
2) Polish all the chrome parts for a new look
3) Get rid of all the rust on the motorcylce
4) Mods -
a) Headlight restoration / new headlight
b) A custom wrap
c) Some tripmachine products for the motorcycle.
d) New mirrors etc

Need your advice on a good mechanic / workshop to help me on this.
Also do suggest on anything you guys could think of.

Cheers!

Fellow BHPian's -

Looking for a sparingly used 500 in the NCR, if there be one, would be thankful if someone may PM me.

Thanks much.

The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!-20230828_003608.jpg

Purchased these 3 fuel pump filters for my C5 from the US. Very high quality. RE supposedly has stopped selling them and IIRC the dealer price for a replacement filter used to be 1700 or 2500 bucks.

https://www.highflowfuel.com/qfs-fue...3-hfp-s397s-3/

The inexpensive ones on Amazon are extremely low quality and probably do no good.

Re: The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!

Fellow 500 Owners -

I just picked a 2018 Bullet (not the Classic) 500 EFI, though the previous owner mentioned getting it serviced in April 23, I would still want the basics to be done again, planning for following, would be thankful if the members here can add/suggest if I may be missing out on anything -

1) It's done 9K so tires are in fine nick, Ceat ones.
2) Motul 5100 4T
3) Air filter (please suggest the right one, don't want to go overboard with the expensive ones), with the cost associated.
4) Brakes - need some work, what can and should be done.
5) Anything that I may have missed than the ones stated above.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!

Congratulations on your 500.
If the service was done at Royal Enfield center, then they usually check and log jobs that were notified to the customer. The customer can choose to get those jobs done or not. Regardless, it is usually mentioned on the job card and bill.

Get the forks and bearings, tire balance, handle alignment, battery, clutch and the tank checked once.

IMO stock to RE genuine and stock spares and fluids.

Re: The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!

Any specific reason you are not opting for genuine spares? OEM Air filter costs about 220.

Thanks Gordon for chiming in there, would be thankful if you may help with the following -

1) Air filter - make.
2) Oil filter - make and price.
3) OEM Oil - 15W50 is the grade, the make and price.
4) OEM Battery - make and price.

Any other fluids that need to be looked at.

I actually intend to visit the RE workshop for the same for the spares. Wanted an insight on prices and make, hence the ask.

Thanks a ton for all your help and support.

All the parts are branded as Royal Enfield itself.

As part of the scheduled service, the advisor and technician will check everything and suggest you what jobs are required.

I found my last service bill from Jan 2023, it'll help you with some costs.

Re: The Royal Enfield 500 Classic thread!

Hi guys, total novice here. Classic 350 Reborn owner here, so as a secondary bike I'm thinking about getting Classic 500 stealth black variant. And also just wondering can I fit reborn's alloy rims and tubeless tyre to classic 500 stealth black model? Does the classic 500 have clearance for it? Once sorry if I sound really dumb with my rookie questions. Thanks in advance.
