Hi all,

i have been searching through this forum to find this topic, but finally decided to start one by myself.
MODS if this is already open, please feel free to delete mine, but point me in the right direction.

My Cast iron 500cc is in stock condition save the seats and the handle bar. I want to get the 23 ltr tank for this baby and was wondering if there are any good guys selling this in Mumbai. If yes, what are the costs expected to be?

also, i wanted to airbrush the tank and customize it to my liking, does anyone do this in mumbai. Guys, please help as the current tank has got a few scratches , thanks to the neighbourhood kids trying to climb on and my heart weeps every time i see the scratches.
please:

I think instead of going in for a new tank you would be better off shelling around 500/- bucks to get your existing tank converted into a 23ltrs.

Its a simple mod, fast, cost-efficient and anyways you are planning on gettting your tank painted. So I personally feel this is the best option.

While you do so, you can also get the fuel input cap moved to either left or right to make it look different, I have also seen some guys have two of them (one on each side).

Let me know if you would like to try the options available and I can check accordingly and get back to you by Monday.

Here are a couple of links,

India's leading distributor of motorcycle parts. Specialists in Royal Enfield spares and accessories.

Royal Enfield Zone - Fuel Tanks for Royal Enfield Bullet, Electra, Machismo, Thunderbird, Standard :: Royal Enfield Zone, New Delhi, India

Modding the existing tank might not be a great idea as leaks can spring up and you don't want fuel leaking in the middle of nowhere. This has happened to a couple of people whom I know.

Cheers,

Jay

Ok... but the links that you have sent are all in delhi. the problem is that i am not too sure of the quality of the products unless i touch and feel them. or are these guys reliable enough to close your eyes and order?

well, i have placed an enquiry on the site for the tanks and a few other knick knacks. just a thought , why delhi has so much of choice for spare parts, but mumbai does not? whenever I ask a mechanic for a petrol tank or a saddle, i get told that it has to be 'mangaooed' from delhi. pretty sad. there are a large number of enfield riders in mumbai also you know. :Frustrati

Hey Jay - Thank you for sharing your experience (from people you know) about the leaks due to the mod.

I wasn't aware of this issue as one of close friends who did this mod never faced this issue. But good you brought it up so I can atleast let people know that this might happen.

Hi,
i have just recd the quotes from the site where i had posted enquiries. The first tank( pic below ) is quoted at 4k and the second one at 4650 with new meters , without meters at 4150?
sounds reasonable? please help.
please:

also, can anyone please help me in getting to know good artists for customising the fuel tank in mumbai?

On the 2nd pic posted above - the speedo and ammeter thing is on the tank. Arent there any tanks with fuel guage or tacho etc on? Just kind of curious to know :)

There was a guy by the name Yusuf if i remember correctly, heard he's shifted his shop to Juhu Galli from Andheri west (apna bazaar), he's good at doing mods on bikes in metal (not fibreglass). Unfortunately ive lost his number. May be someone here can help. As for the paintjob there is a guy in Versova, by the side of Bass.com. HAve seen a lot of customised Rx100's there and i must say the airbrush job was top notch. Do try him out.

Tacho , i dont think so as the mods need to be carried out on the engine. Fuel guage , i am sure would be available , though i have not seen any as yet.

Whoa!!! the speedo on tank & the taco in the centre of the handle bars!!! forces me to buy a RE. I've already become a crank head after seeing BBLOST's TBTS, now this is drooling!!!
