Hi
I am Abhinav Sharma and I own a Pulsar 200 (Black). Recently, I discovered that the fuel in my bike is getting used up quite unusually. Then, I opened up the Fuel Filler cap to find Petrol accumulating around it. I suspect the petrol is evaporating from there. I had got this problem rectified by Probiking once where they inverted the rubber seal of the Fuel Filler cap and it was okay for some time but I face this problem again. What to do? Any suggestions? If you want I'll post pictures of it too.

Okay! So, I got the Fuel Gauge changed as per what the Probiking guys suggested. Now, I have a last question-
1. They charged me Rs. 183 for what was written as "UNIT TANKLH"
2. The part number was written as- 01-DK201065

Is it OK?

P.S. As per the Probiking people the Fuel Gauge was faulty and it was water surrounding the filling hole. Then, I recalled that my mother had sprinkled water over the bike some days back.

If bike is in warranty period & if said item is not a wear part/ consumable you shall not pay. Tanks with flush fitting lids have a provision to drain out water that gets in around the cap. unless blocked no water stays on for days. check. Well, its a bajaj so learn to ask why-why the service chap till its convincing.

are you sure it was water or petrol? it is pretty easy to make out the difference between the 2 (smell for instance). and are you sure your fuel was getting used up? (how much do you cover between trips to the pump?)

Tomorrow I'll be filling the petrol tank to full capacity. Then, I shall measure the mileage again and keep you updated. thanks for your concern.

P.S.- After how many kilometers should I get my Pulsar 200 serviced and the engine oil changed?

If you feel that the petrol is evaporating too much:

1. Check the filler cap & it's washer.

2. Get a Tank bag !
