which Bike (twister, pulsar 135, stunner, unicorn, RTR)

Have shortlisted
twister, stunner, unicorn and pulsar 135.
I wont prefer pulsar 150 and 220 is bit out of budget. so is yamaha FZ*.

Will go with what i dont like first:
Twister:
1. handle bar, looks too oldish. replacing those shouldnt cost a bomb.
2. tyres are too skinny. again not sure abt upgrade.

Stunner:
lots of graphics, costing 61k on road. but gives better mileage.

Unicorn:
I have old unicorn, and just love its plain looks. Thats why i hate unicorns
silvery graphics.

Pulsar 135:
Didnt like the seating as i am used to unicorn.
But looks are ok. good mileage and costing same twister (with disc).

Have you test ridden the Suzuki GS 150 R? I was very impressed by that bike.

Not sure, but i have uploaded a pic in my earlier post. have a look. We took it to Leh and it was one of the most reliable bike i have come across..... and ofcourse a very smooth engine and fuel efficient in that harsh terrain.

Here's another pics.

^^Looks is a very subjective matter friend, one man's meat can be other man's poison. P135 LS is a very potent bike, and over and above all its terrific value for money. I will suggset the thread starter to go for this only as this is the best bet out of the shortlisted contenders.

Hey chetans, if looks are the only negative you have towards Unicorn you should definitely check GS 150, both bikes are similarly placed in terms of cost and appeal. Cant go wrong with the Suzuki, excellent seating for the city, avoid the bright orange though imo

I too prefer the older Unicorn to the imo hideous sticker job on the new one.

I don't like the current gear shifter of the Unicorn. I prefer the previous heel-toe shifter.

surely the P135 LS is value for money and its looks are okay for me.
I am just doubtful about its build quality though. and thats the only thing on my mind for going with other brands.

As of now i am leaning towars stunner, as i already have an unicorn.
The next one is suzuki GS 150, although I am waiting for weekend to get a test drive.
Then would go for pulsar 135LS and finally twister because of its 1.5months of waiting time for the ones with disc option.

Since you already own a Honda Unicorn, here is my few cents in reality.
I own the 2nd version, completed 33k km.
+
overall a good motorbike. I havn't tried any other 4stroke competitors.

-
Straightline stability is highly questionable.
Monoshock barely last 10k km. Its dead after that.
Front head assembly will always be an issue (can't be rectified).
fuel flow problem is hardwired in its dna.
poor brakes.
To end it, the worst service on the planet.

There is nothing to worry about on the build quality front it is more or less on par with other bike manufacturers if not better.
Stunner is nothing more than a reskinned shine, except the big bike styling it doesnt bring anything new and fresh to the plate. Suzuki GS 150 is a very good alround package but again irrespective of the fact that its latest entrant in the 150 market it has nothing fresh and groundbreaking.

Keep us updated on your buying process.

Well, I dont like it too, I have the Gen 1 Unicorn. However, I heard the heel-toe shifter can be retro-fitted in the new Unicorn. If that is possible, it is not a major disqualification.

Have you seen the Unicorn in plain silver and black now ? They look extremely good with the Unicorn emblem in metal. The silver one especially looks classy. No graphics here. Just like the Gen 1 Unicorn.

If you were/are satisfied with the Unicorn in all other aspects, I would strongly urge you to go in for it.
