I thought Nissan engines, since they are assembling these in what seems to be the old Allwyn Nissan factory..

I've seen these bikes in Africa, and they're not very reliable. If they sell well, it might make sense to invest in a Mahindra Authorised Service Centre for these bikes.

There was a thread discussing this earlier. Too lazy to find it and post the link.
As far as I have seen, the fit and finish of the bikes left a lot to be desired, and the styling wasnt impressive either. (Though they were camouflaged, I could still make out the shape). There were 2 of them, one with a Pulsarsque tank. though not quite as visually appealing.
I agree, they were preproduction models, but still, I expect the quality to be much higher. It made them look like chinese bikes and at the time I was pretty much convinced that they were bringing the chinese tooling and building them here.

the preproduction bikes are the barest minimum.

when I looked at the optra for the first time even before it was in news it looked ****. wrong lights and taping all round.

cant say until they actually make it into the market.

remember its not the manufacturers who have a problem with higher capacity bikes as long as they make profits.

Its the aam Indian Janta with the mentality
"why would I buy a 1 lakh bike if I can get a maruti 800 for 2."
