R.E Machismo 350 Ignition Timing Advance

A buddy with a R.E Machismo 350 wishes to advance his ignition timing. It's one with a TCI and looks like a pretty fixed one. The stator and TCI sensor cannot be adjusted. There's no movable base plate. Has anyone tried a Rextor 5:13 CDI on the Bullet? This one has an electronic timing adjust screw (potentiometer) rather than a mechanical advance. Where can I get one. Sadly the Machismo got rid of the Delco or else, I could have suggested Kiran Bhide's points conversion kit.

First of all, why does he want to advance the timing? TCI is a set and forget system. The two possible ways to advance the timing would be to reduce the spark plug gap or alternatively advance the cam timing by adavncing the intake cam by a tooth or so. I would suggest against both of these methods.

Cheers,

Jay
