A ride to Ladakh on our bikes means a lot of things to a lot of people. But the common factor is one of adventure. I dont see what scope is left for adventure with 2 dozen motorcycles and a dozen support vehicles to carry your luggage and medical support staff!

And which genius planned the itinerary? He truly deserves an award! Manali to Keylong? Keylong to Sarchu? What is this: ride plan for pansies? And wow! Hundar to Shakti - the Wari-La crossing! Rather pathetic itinerary overall which wont appeal to either foreigners or to Indian's.

Also the eligibility criteria includes this gem: "Participants should be able to run 5 kms and do 50 pushups in 1 hour. Pushups may be done as multiple sets."

I dont think I would be able to do either of the two tasks. But that hasnt stopped me from doing the Ladakh circuit three times before! Seriosuly: what are these guys smoking?

Dont know who RE is targetting or where they are going with this. The rather "interesting" comments on the Odyssey made on a travel site popular with backpackers are telling indeed!

if only RE as a company focussed on making better bikes instead of turning into a travel operator and organising these annual tamashas (the other being the annual tamasha in Goa), then maybe they wouldn't have become the laughing stock of the entire biking fraternity.

RE is shooting itself in the foot with these kind of annual tamasha's. I am sorry, but this Himalayan Odyssey is one Himalayan Blunder! :)

agree: Pushups cos the new plastic bikes being churned out by RE would most likely stall so participants must be ready to push them all the way to Ladak!!! :uncontrol
