Anyone have their Enfield 500 standard invoice copy? Please help!

I have imported a 2000 Enfield 500 standard into Thailand and now need to document the value to the Authorities so that they can charge me tax. I have no problem paying tax on a fair value, but as this is a big bike by Thai standards, the cretins at the Motor Vehicles think that the price should be big too and have assessed it at 250,000 Rp. No basis whatsoever for this price and they have just made it up and now it is up to me to document the value or live with being ripped off

Requests to RE and their Dealers go unanswered or in the case of RE "prices for discontinued models are not available"

Can anyone send me a invoice or quote for a 500 Standard back in 2000, or failing that any year of a Enfield 500 Standard will do as long as it is the old style iron engine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

BTW why dont you contact company?
they can help you.
try the dealer from where it was bought back in 2000.

I own a STD500 '95 model, but I am the second owner, so I don't have the invoice copy :(

But i can get you a scanned copy of my insurance amount, if that would help.

Thanks for the offer of the insurance doc but the Authorities will only accept either an official Dealer quote, or a copy of an invoice.

The Company is of no help at all and dissuades the private import of RE motorcycles. RE refuses to help and will only reiterate the mantra that "prices for discontinued models are not available".

My only hope is that someone here will have a copy of their bill of sale or quote

that's the way Indian company's treat their customer's.

ones you buy something you are on your own.

I am sure this would help. Because this is a later model and its invoice would help the customs assess the correct value

I *think* I have preserved the invoice that came with my 2002 model Enfield 500, but it's been a couple of years since I saw it and will require some searching. Will let you know later today.

I found the allotment order form dated July 2002 but the idiots have made all kinds of corrections on the figures. So I doubt if it'll be considered genuine. :( For what it's worth, the base price is given as Rs 66,914. After including road tax and accessories (disc brake, short silencer, crash guard, mud flaps etc.) the total amount works out to Rs 72,889, which they were kind enough to round off to Rs 72,800.
