One of the major problem in putting car engine on motorcycle will be weight
sure bike would make more power but it will be used mostly to carry that load
so net gain will not be satisfactory

the second drawback will be of size

i am sure the weight factor isnt an issue the 800cc motor can easily pull a 700 kilo vehicle ..if the 796cc struggled to pull its own load i dbout maruti 800 would have been this successful.. the max the bike will weigh is perhaps 250 kilos ?

i think you will have problem with the balance of the bike ... mounting it will not be easy either ..but didnt they have a bike with an 1.3 esteem enigine@ 2005 speed run ?

Well we do have some here in india. If I remember right, there was one made in punjab, using the esteem's engine. It was done by some guy who owns a factory. This happened years back.

Note From Moderator - Thanks for the post technocrat, but we would rather you provide the specifics of the magazine (Name,Month,Page) than upload the scan of an entire article from one of the indian mags due to several reasons.

there are some paajis in patiala and chandigarh and some other places, who have used gypsy's engines to build mobikes...one of them "bikes" has a 1.3 gypsy king's engine, and sports a 215 section 15" rear tyre from a tata sierra...!!!

Not to sound rude but 40hp is'nt exactly "high pėrformence ". But what about cooling? Regenrative system maybe, like hooked to waterpump. But all that power must be stored somewhere. Still very interesting!
