in India modifying a 350cc bullet is very common but you cant call them a chopper, chopper word has recently started booming up, but it will take time for us to accept such modification which requires heavy pocket and aftr sales of such choppers are bad and as well as mainatinence is an issue.

The Avenger uses a Mikuni BS29 carb.

Which carb does the original Bajaj Eliminator use.. model and size?

Hey, I'm new to the group. Own a Avenger 180 since July`2007. Have done some trips to Manali, Jaipur & now Plampur & Mc Leod Ganj this June`08.
The bike is not that great to boast of. Have got a friend who can do some real nice modifications to juice up performance.

Right now some basic cosmetic modifications done to the bike.
- Conical Saddle Bags (Faux Leather)
- Windshield
- Carrier behind the pillion back rest

It looks like a cool cruiser. With some changes to the air filter and stock settings, accompanied with Carb tuning. The bike can give easily 20% - 30% more power.

This friend of mine has been doing performance modifications for Bullets and old Norton, Indian motorcycles.

I will be here from time to time so pour in ur thoughts.

Am planning to get the MRF Zapper Q 140/90-15" MRF Exports | Tyres | Two / Three - Wheeler - Zapper Q . Is this worth an upgrade to the Stock MRF Nylogrip Zapper Y 130/90-15" ??

Also i have maintained 25Psi pressure in my rear tyre so far, if i change to the Zapper Q 14/90, i still need to maintain the same right ?

TIA

Help!

Hi there.
I own a black bajaj avenger200 2009.
I love this machine.
Its truly one of its kind.
Ive done trips on it only in the city from Marine Drive - Gorai.
No long rides yet. But soon hopefully. Anyone want to join me?
May ride down to goa next month let see.

Guys I am trying to build a avy200 that can do top speeds of 130 - 140kms.
Give me a mileage of 30-40.
Is it possible ? Or only in dreams?
I am looking to pimp up my bike to the highest.
Make it one of a kind yet true to its roots.

Someone told me a long time ago when building a machine.
"Avoid Being Obvious! Always Let It Be A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing"
And thats what im looking to build.

Now guys i need help from you'll with a couple of questions?

1) The avy200 comes with a halogen. But im looking for something brighter?
2) If not is it advisable to change the whole headlight itself?
Why not build a unit using the fz16 headlamp to give it a crusier look?
3) Is it advisable to port/re-jet/tune the bike? Pro's & Con's?
4) Does any harm happen to the engine if i get an aftermarket silencer put?
5) If i don't do any of the above is it advisable to put a k&n?
6) Does the performance depend on the fuel? Speed Or Reg? I din't find any.
7) I am looking on changing the handle bar to a higher one.
8) Seatwork? Any idea's. I thought of making it softer & widening the rear.
9) Is it possible to install those car mini auto gauge rpms on the avy?

Plus Bombay/Mumbai guys i heard there's a real good mech.
He used to work for Moshin Rizvi. He's located in the santacruz area near milan.
Can someone give me more details.

Guys would be grateful if you'll could post at the earliest.
Thanks and best regards,
PsychoLyn

Hi Psycholyn,

I have an Avenger (red), 4 months old from new as is my first bike. Really happy with it. I dont use the main dealers for my stuff and servicing as made a hash of the first oil change. I go to Yogesh in Girgaum, if you want his number let me know. You can watch what they do to your bike and they handle it with TLS as its there own. Yogesh is an avenger rider. Not done any mods yet due to the limits of Bajaj warranty but when that is up in 18months or so we will see.

Let me know if you want Yogesh's number whilst you are going to Marine Drive, you can have it serviced. May even see you on that seafront stretch sometime. Ride safe.

//try xenons

port and re-jet.

Pro: more power
Con: Mileage and finding one who can do it properly.

// yes, if not a good one designed for the engine.

// it will be pain to ride it

Migration from Car to Avenger !

Hi,

Im planning to migrate from Car to Cruiser bikes, guess why ?
Got bored with slow moving traffic, recent petrol price shoot-ups and so heres my priority

1. Comfort - better than sports bike, but fairly lesser than a car.
I have been driving car for 3 years and im not in a position of those Rx-100
days where i can cut and move in traffic. I dont mind even if reach little
late than Rx-100, but i would like to reach destination in comfort and little faster than a car

2. Mileage - Better than a car, 35-40 is fine.

3. No skidding whatsoever.

Looking at my above requirement Avenger-200 seems to fit mine (Royal enfield-TBTS, i have eliminated because im not a serious bullet fan,
so my bullet friends said stay away if you don't fall in love for its macho-looks, weight !)

But here is my concern with avenger:
1. Does anyone get any back-pain in avenger, due to lower saddle and center of gravity. Rider butt and back is CLOSEST to road than any other bike, so when going over speed breaker does it really cause a shock up or throw you out of the seat. Hows the feel of 'going over speed breaker' in comparison with a sports bike ?

2. I could see people driving avengers in narrow traffic quite fine, but is it very stressful on shoulders and hands. Earlier i used to drive honda-activa also, i used to feel stressful in my shoulders (you naturally tighten up on shoulders, instead of relaxing). Anyone felt that with avenger ?

3. Skidding problems in Avenger ? Is it really that bad. Or is it a driving mistake. That is you need to back-brake first, then front and so on. And you skid only if you apply a sharp front break.

One general question, im mainly going for this bike because i felt due to low seat height, it will be very easy to balance in all situations and never-skid. But some avenger users say this bike skids more often than sports type-Pulsar bike. And stay watchful on loose-gravel road, wet roads etc,. Is it true, that it skids more than other bikes.

Im very confused. Please help

I see many friends in bangalore who got bored with car-driving to office (for 2-3 years), making this migration due to quick-to-reach-office than car and with better-mileage, better comfort (than a sports bike, where you HAVE to lean-forward), with room for little cruising in a weekend.

Avenger folks, please help, i really like this bike, does avenger fit into my requirements ?

thanks
Hari

Hi..Looking at your requirements i think avenger 200 would be the decent choice.I have been driving this machine for last four years..Below are my observations ---

1) Sitting comfort - Low sitting position in Avengers makes it the most comfortable bike for long drives on the indian roads. But the pillon sit in quite narrow and not at all confortable for the long rides.

2) Driving in slow moving trafic does get bit owkward for the driver but thats managable.

3) Fuel efficiency would be arounf 35-40 km-hr

4) Yes..bike does feels shaky on the weight and muddy roads, so its a must to drive cautiously and at manageble speeds during rainy seasons.

5) Bike needs to be kept clean to look good and make sure that the crome is intact over the time.

Its a value for money bike..Would be a decent choice.

I ride a modded 180; get 32kmpl on normal rides

Pretty happy with its performance and comfort factor.
