Hi yaar when you go from bakery junction to palayam you will reach a small junction before the underpass starts and turning to the left takes you inside market and the right take to go to LBS Center as soon as you take that right turn its on the left side.

Carb rebuild kit comes with all the 4 float bowl screws with washers, the stock size main jet and pilot jets with a new needle and float bowl gasket. But am not sure whether it comes with the air screw...try your luck in powerhouse road junk yard guys to see whether they have any old bike carbs lying around...for this you need to get into the powerhouse road from the junction where parthas theatre is and go straight where you reach a point you can see these junk yard shops on both the sides...hope this helps

Hail RX !
The bike is currently with foby who is testing it for me. He will list out all the problems first. I am moving to chennai tomorrow. I will be back in a months time and then the restoration will begin followed by the fitness test.

Pramod, like someone else suggested, show your bike to Sydney. Very down to earth guy, and knows Yams really well. Ask him if engine needs to be overhauled at this point in time. Engine revving high when started after long time does not mean crank is gone.

Get the cosmetics sorted out first, ride the bike a bit, collect spare parts for your bike whenever you can. Later, if you really want to do it(based on Sydney's answer), go for an overhaul. I have seen many RX100's rebuilt during my college days and most went south.

Pramod, saw this thread just now only. Kicking myself for missing this. First, my congratulations to you. And secondly, if you need any help in sourcing parts, will be happy to help. Also, when can we come to see her?

She is with foby now, you can see her on weekdays between 2-10 at the parking @ leela infopark building at technopark on weekends (provided foby is in town) you can call him and meetup. I want you to take a test drive and pointout if anything needs attention apart from cosmetic stuff. Also find me a good but chep painter to paint the bike, i will come back by the end of month and then the restoration will go on full swing.

@Pramod - Why aren't you getting this done in Chennai; just asking out of curiosity that's all.

Not that Foby wouldn't help or burdening him, but you can learn too right? You don't need to take your Rx to any (con)mechanic & you can fix it up all by yourself.

This is the best time to learn when you actally rebuild isn't it?

Agree with you aargee, but the bike needs a FC, it would not be a wise idea to bring her here get a rebuild and then take her back for an FC, Foby is just riding her in as is condition without any change in anything, the rebuild will happen when i am there. He will just find out the issues and let me know after riding her close to 500 KMs in a month's time. I have not even collected the papers from my Bro, he is presently in qatar. Most of my rebuild will be DIY.

re: My Yamaha RX100 restoration thread - A tribute to my childhood crush

Lost my bike keys yesterday, My labrador retriver(its supposed to retrive not hide) Hid the keys under my car. I made a duplicate key made and today when i try turning the ignition on with the orignal key it doesent wanna work.

Today i did some shopping, Bought both sides pilot lamps, all carb pipes and a tail lamp bracket. All costed 269/-. If i were to buy the same amount of stuff for my car i must have been very poor.

re: My Yamaha RX100 restoration thread - A tribute to my childhood crush

Guys I have to change the entire lock kit again, not doing it right now but will be done in a week when parts arrive, the new set costs 350 With the petrol Tank Lid, is it a good price?

BTW Today got the tail lamp bracket fixed all pipes of the carburetor replaced, getting the carburetor cleaned as we speak, this should sort out the multiple cranking issue. Replaced both side pilot lamps

The Crank will be worked upon next week followed by the painting in a weeks time.

Things to be done.

Crank to be fixed
Locks to be replaced
All 4 indicators to be replaced
2 Side covers (150 each unpainted) replaced
Front Rim
Chroming of chrome parts
Buffing of the engine
Left side pilot (3 lights) to be replaced)
New Front Dome
Handle
Switch assembly to be replaced(paint is worn out)
Clutch/hand Break leaver
Kicker
Gear changer
All nuts in the engine
spark plug
Full Painting

Finally RTO test.

Got the Carb cleaned, Now bike starts in the first kick. Got an estimate for chroming, the front and rear mudguards are 150 Each, which i feel is very reasonable considering the new price.

Pramod,
Wish you all success in your RX 100 restoration. I have a 1992 silver RX which i intend to restore soon. Have you CHECKED the oil pump. I think that is the most critical component of the RX.
Also i think your RX should be 1993 + as it has the YEIS sticker which came later ??

The sticker is an add on, it still has orignal escorts speedo and shocks which indecate its from the 80s, i could be wrong here, As far as the oil pump goes, i put oil along with the fuel, not taking any chances , the oil pump will be inspected throughly when the engine overhaul is done.
