Face of Yamaha India-led exclusively to Bike INDIA! Though we had Jawa/Yezdi 250S in India in the past, manufacturers have been shying away from full-scale 250CC machines ever since then! We've had I80cc Bajaj Pulsars and 223CC Hero Honda Karizmas, but not a full-blown 250, which is what Yamaha India is now set to let loose on Indian turf. Plans are on the anvil to launch two new, fuel¬injected, high-tech motorcycles in India - a sporty 250 and a vety stylish 150. Both these machines will be on display at the Auto Expo in Delhi this month, so it's no pipe dream, though the exact date of launch is yet a closely guarded secret.

Fule injected engine, which makes 22PS at 7500rpm, the Fazer 250 is a versatile bike that can handle the cut and thrust of city traffic, can be used as an inexpensive and reliable mode of transport for daily commuting and can even be used for a bit of corner¬carving on Sundays. Style-wise, the bike's chunky, 19-1itre fuel tank and large-ish silencer lend some substance to the package. The design is certainly contemporary, if not ground-breaking. Yamaha have paid a lot of attention to ergonomics and the bike is said to be plush and comfortable. Whether it's
the daily commute to office, or going shopping with the wife/girlfriend, or going out riding in the twisties with your mates, the Fazer 250 is suitably equipped to handle all such duties.

May god get you one of these bikes. You just made my day.

After Jawa, only good bike to be launched was Yamaha 350. For reasons unknown, Yamaha stop manufactering it :-(. But now it seems we are going to see good bikes on Indian roads. Even at 22 bhp, it would be quite good, if we consider the Yamaha bikes quality and handling :-)

yamaha stopped manufacturing the rd350 due to extremely low sales and the killing emission norms. Ultimately the plug was pulled. Even today its my favouraite bike after the bimota 500v-due.

I have this hunch that if priced right and marketed properly by John Abraham fazer 250 will sell more than pulsar 250. I didnt like the added fairing to be true. Atleast they should have given it a new design.

good review material...boy has yamaha done some serious planning or wat>..with 2 junkies expected to romp indian 2-wheeler market soon it wouldt be a complete yamaha show to dream off..they have strategically created a full blown 250cc and a standard 150cc to take head on collision with pulsars and Karizma 223cc..all now hinges on what price it comes with...single most crucial factor for consumers and a cursory glance would have it smewere between 48-52k for 150cc and 70-75k for 250cc..n would this not set cat amongst the pigeons..boy cant wait to see the action on field..

I hope Yamaha decide to launch it soon here, if its priced right this bike is going the kill the pulsar 250 and we all know that Bajaj's bikes quality is nowhere near that of Yamaha.

The fazer 250 and gladiator are really hot. i think the fazer 250 is a better bike than the bajaj250. bajaj has quality and gearbox issues. the yam will have better reliabilty and handling. can't wait to see it launched. wonder what's honda's, suzuki's and HH's responses are to these bikes??

In performance and bike dynamics, I really doubt it as Bajaj is still learning. I will be glad if an Indian company can match up to Y, though.

On the price front, I guess Bajaj has the ability to take Yam to the cleaners. This is where the battle will be won or lost, if I'm not wrong. There will probably be as many Bajaj v/z Yamaha arguements as we've had Two-Stroke v/s Four-Stroke and Suzuki Shogun v/s Yamaha RX battles in the past.

May the best bike win!

err..one thing, guys; in one of the pics, did anybody else notice the speedo nudging 100kmph@4000 r.p.m..? if that pic IS true to the bike's nature, then that would mean that this particular yamaha might be capable of doing 140-145 kmph with ease....!!! and if that is the case, then there IS no competition to the fazer 250; at least in terms of performance...

thats the verdict everyone including me and you are at right now.

But bajaj may spring up surprises which no1 expects.

I wouldnt give a definite comment until both the bikes are out in the market.

the fazer 250 looks naked, more of a street bike.. the new pulsar xxx looks more sporty and has a long list of features..

the fazer 250:
-250cc/21-22PS
-FI
-100 fr and 130 rear rubber
-monoshock
-oil cooled
-huge tank with the plastic scoop looks good
-rear grab rail should be changed

the pulsar dtsfi
-app 220-230cc. the officials arent disclosin the capacity
-app 20-22PS
-FI
-oil cooled
-stepped seats
-LED tail lamps
-Digital instrumentation
-wider/bigger forks
-rear discs
-projector head lamps
-90mm fr and 120mm rear rubber

overall, if the dtsfi pumps out around 21-22bhp and Bajaj prices it around the fazer 250 (Say around 5k more) , i think the dtsfi will be a clear winner..

I dont think Yamaha can come anywhere near Bajaj's price. Even in Brazil where this bike sells, its close to Rs.1.5L.

I dont think that a 22 bhp bike would do 100 kmph @4000 rpm
It would be somewhere in the range of 5000+rpm

The karizma(16.8bhp/1.8Kgm) does 100kph at 6250rpm.
