even if its below 100 its worth it i feel for the power + mileage factor later better than the zma so just waiting for the launch. its sufficient power for ME for indian roads.

20 bhp its more than enough for indian roads as we have to many rossi's as it is with 60kmpl bikes and with 20 on tap no indian cars gonna get ahead at the lights
it has to be forced styling for short wheelbase = better handling.

Bajaj launches new Pulsar

NDTV Correspondent

Sunday, July 16, 2006 (New Delhi):

Bajaj has launched a new powerful version of pulsar.

The new Pulsar DTSFi has a completely new body and heart. The throttle response is great and the engine performs admirably in each gear.

The braking has improved and the stability enhanced whilst braking because of the rear disc brake. The power loss between gear changes is minimal and the overall seating comfort is also top notch.

The new Pulsar has a liquid cooled 220cc engine with a 19.7 bhp output and 19.12 Nm torque.

The fuel system is DTSFi or fuel injection. The wheelbase is 1350mm and the bike's ground clearance is 177 mm. The tyres are tubeless and the rear suspension is gas filled.

Chief features

It has a 260 mm disc brake and 230mm discs at the back. The fuel tank can take 15 litres of petrol.

DTSFi has a separate set of lights for high and low beam - an ellipsoidal projector lamp for the low beam and a parabolic lamp for the high beam.

The instrument cluster also houses many new features like an indicator that informs the rider of the level of filth in the air filter.

Bajaj claims that the top speed of the bike is 135 kmph and a mileage figure of 50 kmpl.

Bajaj is also claiming that in India the bike has first status on many other features like the engine, the tubeless tyres, rear disc brakes, clip on handle bars, split seat, backlit switchgear and self cancelling turn signals like cars.

clap: below Rs 80,000, which surely is good news for the prospective buyers.

They said "If Bajaj wants to take the fight to the Hero Hodna Karizma, then it would be trying very hard to keep the price tag below Rs 80,000, which surely is good news for the prospective buyer"

dont mislead

Admittedly the anticipation was there, but feel that the bike falls short on some points for me .. though I love the new features.

1. Feel the bike has a lot of "gaps". It almost looks like the P180 has been stretched to give a longer wheel base.
2. Lot of painted metal and fibre/fairing in the upper half, and all metal in the lower half.
3. Not totally happy with the fairing. Dont seem to integrate with the over-all design and look.
4. Want mirrors that extend out a little more. Looking at the snaps, I feel the view is not enough.
5. Wish the spokes of the alloys were dual-sided in design instead of the single side and alternating like they are right now. [hope I am able to explain it right].

Hopefully a mono-shock will fill up the gaps and give the bike a fuller look.

Just hope that there is no base and full version, and the [low] price quote being for the base version

Somehow I doubt that.

There would be no more Comet Imports, Form what I have known even the current deliveries werent done on time & Kinetic is not looking to get any further batches.

@2fast4U: The smaller tank is there since the time they introduced alloy wheels on pulsars. Putting up USD forks is an expensive affair & would have increased the cost.

...and also considering the fact that its a 20bhp 4 stroke. 4 strokes have much gentler power pulses than 2 strokes and dont generate as much wheelspin at corner exit. MotoX bikes are migrating to 4s for this reason.

I'm really waiting for this to hit the stores ........ right now I own a 150 DTSi the DTS Fi would be a nice upgrade ;)

There's a small 2-3 page review ( test drive) on Autocar.

Even OD has a review of it and they say the Karizma is not on the same planet and the refinement, quality of the DTSFI is just like a Honda. Now i am waiting for HH to respond with a HH Karizma FI, boy that would be something but i feel its would be difficult to beat Bajaj.

For those who are up-to-date with the developments, let's hope HH's "dream" comes true, if you catch my drift. It's high time somebody took the war to 250-500cc, instead of 100-125cc...

very true Veyron...... Competition will mean better products and lower prices ..... like mobile phone rates of late .....

Exactly, The Karizma was highly priced and later competition with the 180 meant profit for the consumers.

Seems to be like that Pulsar is going to have a cult status(sales wise) in the lines of Corolla/Camry/Civic/Accord.

Officials of the Bajaj told that the name "Pulsar" had became synonymous with performance biking in India and they will never get rid of the Pulsar tag. After all, Pulsars were the only bikes in India above 100cc to reach a million mark in sales.

But one question still remains, whether the morons at Bajaj service bays be able to take care of the new Pulsie ???

I wonder why they got rid of the Chetak tag
