Re: Bikes of yesteryear and long forgotten : Anybody still riding them?

Buddies-am currently getting my RTZ Delta restored at Varanasi. Am stuck with the slow jet for the carb which is holding me back. any info on where can i find one? The other items are-

1. tacho cable assy.
2. horn, turn indicator and EKS switchgear assy on the handle bars
3. rear view mirrors ( but original...i found fiem ones useless as they had almost flat mirrors which do not give adequate visibility)

some body suggested going to karol bagh/delhi and looking up Bagga Enterprises. any suggestions?

Its a pity to see a beauty like a Explorer being given away .. Sad ..

Thats why I held on to my KB 100 RTZ Delta (1995) and still ride her -- she still gives me 60-65 kmpl and I have clocked 100,000 kms once and now she is at 39,000 kms kept away in the garage under sheets for the rains however she will be out this weekend for an overall clean and shine up ..

Mine is now fitted with a Yasuka halogen bulb (without cut-out) somehow if I put a normal bulb in her it just doesn't light up the road.

I have tried to wire-up to the battery too but just doesn't help.

Only Pune and Ahmednagar dealers have stocks of RTZ and Delta bikes. Mumbai dealers raise their brow when I ask them for spares for my Delta
Dear @ Ritesh- any particular area or locality in Pune where there are chances of picking up RTZ Delta spares?

Re: Bikes of yesteryear and long forgotten : Anybody still riding them?

Here's my 25+ year old bike RTZ Delta 1990. Need some help on the silencer aspect. am attaching a cross sectional view of the silencer. If i remember correctly the original silencer had a fire retardant padding (looks and feels like cotton wool) wrapped around the perforated pipe but whether it was in section A, B, C or D i cant recollect. However, the sound of the bike with the padding was somewhere in between an autorickshaw and a Ind Suzuki AX-100 hiss. It was removed by the authorised service centre in one of the free services and I remember the sound changing to a completely autorickshaw tone. I want to bring back the original sound...the muted one lower than the current one. Where should the packing be wrapped and how thick should it be so that it does not create enough back pressure and chokes the engine exhaust.

Dear Atul, nice bike you got. Get us more pictures. A great machine but could not succeed much. There was no flame arrestor installed in the exhaust system and there is no need to. The glass wool cladding was used to dampen the db (sound) level. This was added at the tail end of the exhaust pipe, section d in the drawing. This had no bearing on performance. Remove the rear small pipe and wrap some glass wool cloth. Make sure you don't touch with your bare body. This will dampen the sound and make it less annoying. Glass wool is available easily. If not then go to piping insulation guys (industrial), they will give you for free.

Ahh this post and picture brings back a lot of memories. It was my first scooter. Thanks for sharing. Surprised to hear this particular piece is still being used. Amazing.

Nope. Haven't seen it around here for almost 7-8 years. And AFAIK, it was given away by my neighbours to a guy who was an aspiring journalist or something like that.

Spotted this BAJAJ M50 at Daman. It was poorly maintained but in working condition.

The shape of the side panels and the presence of indicators say that it's a M80.
