Re: Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition launched at Rs. 5.44 lakh

Maruti is the father and mother of limited editions. Add sporty in front of pretty much everything be it stickers, steering cover and who can forget those exclusive seat covers which hold you in place snugly under immense G forces.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition launched at Rs. 5.44 lakh

Since this child art started (deca, windsong etc), I always thought that new SWIFT is likely to come and a stock clearance is going on but it is not true.

As me & MSIL both are psycho about tachometer, I always note that all limited addition by MSIL are refurbishment of lxi variant and not the trimming of vxi variant.

I presume that many people book lxi/ldi variant initially and then convert their booking to vxi/vdi variant. This cause surplus inventory of lower variant and MSIL sell the same by so called limited edition.

One should always careful while buying these things (limited/ special editions).

Instead of this purposeless exercise, MSIL should concentrate their Gear-box design faults.

Not sure about previous iterations, but this time, the limited edition is based on the striped down mid-variants vxi/vdi. The reduced ex-showroom = price of the car minus the OEM music system. The limited edition models come with a different model code in the DMS system. The Ertiga Limited edition (the one with alloy wheels based on the vxi/vdi variant) was a good hit as well.

You will be surprised to know that there are very few takers for the base models. Most customers prefer mid/high models only. Selling a low variant is a challenge as well as a hassle for the sales person.

Even this so called limited edition has Android Auto but the erstwhile flagship of the Maruti stable is still waiting

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

I have a question regarding a feature. Whether automatic speed-sensing door lock is available in any of the models in Swift? I heard the feature is implemented in Dzire. If it is there in Swift also, am I missing something here?

Yes, it is available in Swift since MY 2011 model was launched in India.
All the doors get locked automatically once the car attains speed of 15 Km/hr.

If I am not wrong, the feature was part of Suzuki cars long back. E.g. my father's 2008 model WagonR VXi. It was a missing feature when I bought a Chevy Spark LT in 2009!

Well in that case, my Swift ZXI is not having that feature. Purchased it in 2015.

Highly unlikely.

Please ask the service centre to check whether the feature has been disabled inadvertently. Alternatively, you can go through the user manual and enable it yourself. Do give it a try. The Nippon remote lock that comes inbuilt in the Swift has many options - speed sensing auto lock (generally at 20kmph) being one of them.

I went to the service centre today. Thankfully, they have enabled the automatic speed door lock option in my car. Thanks a lot for pointing out.

Since this feature can be activated from remote unit itself. MSIL should have provided the explanation in user manual itself for the user benefit.

I remember back in 2008, when I had installed Autocop's central locking in my 2004 Zen. I had activated various features like ultrasonic shock alarm, blink programming, lock/unlock sound from the remote unit.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Hi,

I own 2007 Swift 1.3 Petrol, which recently crossed 1,10,000 kms. Till now, I have been servicing the car in MASS. Next service,I am planning to get it done in FNG(most probably by Cartisan).

As part of the next major service, I am planning for the below
- Change the engine oil
- Change the oil filter
- Change the air filter
- Change the fuel filter
- Change the cabin filter
- Change the gear box oil
- Bleed the brake, and change the brake oil
- Clean the front and rear brakes
- Change the coolant
- Change spark plugs

Anything else, i need to consider?

As I am not able to find my "owners manual", can anybody please let help me with the engine oil specification(is it 5w30)?

Regards,
Rohan

Will this infotainment system available as an accessory for the normal swift?

The system in the limited edition is Sony XAV-AX100. You can buy it from MGA or direct from Sony as well.
