From where did you get the OBD transmitter? Could you please post the link for the same?

Search for OBD2 on ebay. You will find a whole bunch of them. Starting from as low as 1500-2000 Rs.

Actually I was looking for AWD but the only color option available was Dolphin Grey.

Congratulations! Looks like the supply situation in Mumbai is not bad at all. I have heard at least 2 more people getting deliveries in less than 15 days.

I shall try and share a brief report and pictures later. 7K kms well spent. My car behaved really well...

Whoa, that's one great expedition! Glad to hear that XUV stood up to it and brought you back in one piece. :) Did you prep your XUV for the Himalayas in any special way?

Please do share the travelogue at the earliest.

Well, not actually a surprise. M&M sells more W8s than W6. So naturally production is more which means that W6 has a bigger waiting time. This is also a reason M&M doesn't plan to bring in a W4. They simply don't see much success rate.

Welcome to TBHP, Heavy Horse.

The OBDII port on the XUV works flawlessly. Am using an OBD Transmitter I bought online paired with Torque on an Android phone. Flawless! Useful stats!

Where does one get the necessary software for using a OBD transmitter with a laptop? Are free software available online?

You should get some software options with the device (in a CD).
Also, take a look at this

Hey I am sorry if I am repeating this. But I was just curious whether the xuv500 was a product built by Mahindra or some other company. The built quality does not seem to be at par with the likes of Bolero and Scorpio. Again I may be wrong

P.S.-I love this car, its just I am curious to know:confused:

If I remember correctly, Mahindras spent close to 3-4 years and ~650 Crores to build the XUV5OO. Yes, you are right, it does seem like a major improvement over the Boero/Scorpio/Xylo.

TBHP has been discussing the XUV5OO from Feb'2009 (almost 4 years now).

It is indeed a major step forward by Mahindra and owners like me -who have never in their wildest dreams considered owning a Mahindra- are a testimony to that.

Hi,
Anyone expecting delivery of XUV this month. The Sales guy is telling me there is a delay getting the vehicle because the colour that I opted for (Dolphin Grey) is not a common choice and they are not coming.

Hi,I am taking delivery of Silver XUV W6 this diwali. Did the PDI today. Initially I had opted for black.

Congratulations to all you guys for booking the XUV & wishing you a speedier delivery for your dream ride. Five back-to-back posts about booking XUV, shows some tremendous affinity that this product, from the house of Mahindras, has been able to garner. Though there was a blip in the Oct 12 sales figures of the XUV, -6.1% MoM basis (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...s-figures.html), I think that would be more to do with the production constraints & nothing to do with the demand for the vehicle. The demand is only going to soar in the coming months as is evident from the multiple posts here about booking the XUV.

There are 2 Main Fuses in my W6 -- MF1 (100 A) and MF2 (150 A). Today, as I was familiarizing myself about the fuses and relays in the engine compartment, I was quite surprised (and alarmed) to see that MF1 is not properly secured. Whereas MF2 is secured by a screw and a nut, MF1 is secured only by a screw on one side but the nut on the other side is missing.

Attachment 1008481

Attachment 1008482

Apprehending arcing (and possible fire) due to loose connection on a high current (100 A) Main Fuse, I rang up the Service Manager of my dealer / A.S.S. and apprised him about my finding. He promised to check out other XUV's and revert. Subsequently, he informed me that only MF2 is connected in the circuit and MF1 is required to be put in circuit only if certain optional electrical accessories are installed and that is why MF1 has been deliberately left 'partially connected'.

I had also taken up the matter (100A MF1 not properly secured) with M&M customer care. Today I received the following reply from M&M :

"This is a 100 amp fuse which is a Dummy fuse, it is of no significance in present circuitry. So even if you remove this nothing will happen in the vehicle. It can be used as spare fuse."

So the matter is now fully clarified.

What's the make and cost of the obd transmitter? Where is it available?

Friends, my XUV-W6 ownership thread is now out of Assembly Line. Check out http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...amshedpur.html

No special preparation except the general and visual checkup before the trip and carrying things like tow rope, air pressure guage and pump, break/clutch fluid. I wasnt carrying spare tube inspite a friend asked me to do so (didnt find the size first and then gave up on trying since I was short on time) and a sidewall puncture on my first day in UK reminds me that I'm not carrying something which is needed on such trip :)
Yup, I was so worried about the clutch issue leaving me sranded somewhere on the trip. However, it behaved really well and I'm very happy with the performance/overall experience. I shall share more details on trip log and some gps tracks later.
Thanks.

I discovered something yesterday after 7 months of ownership with 8000+ on the clock! :D And I was shocked initially. Have you guys ever realized that in the speedo console the right binnacle that houses the Temp Gauge, Tyretronics and such other indicators has no glass covering? I was zapped yesterday when I was cleaning the pod with a soft cloth and ended up touching the background on which the dispay lights up. I thought its some kind of a stupid oversight that left that part without the protective glass in my car.

However, as told to me by my RM, looks like thats by design and none of the XUVs have a glass on that binnacle. How strange! In fact, the area between the two pods that has those tell tale diwali lights of all sorts also has no covering and you can again touch the back surface. I thought of putting it in here as I realized that quite a few owners are not aware of this fact.

This was reported by someone else too. Don't think its across all cars. Believe I read some owners have glass on it. Could be a problem with some specific batch.

Are you sure on this? Because, the RM categorically said that it is standard across all XUVs. I since then have checked one more in office and sure enough that also has no glass on it.
