Hi,

Anyone used this service, I have booked a appointment for this Thursday. When I asked the RM what would be done, she told me that they will be checking the cooling coil and evaporator coil and general compressor maintenance & will take 2 days. I was shocked, I just expected them to clean the filter and deodorize the interior. Is something more afoot in this 'Freshening of the A/C'.

A disguised recall may be!

On a separate note,
Nitin, you get emails from purple club? For me, since my cell is registered under DND, I do not get ANY communication from M&M. I had tried writing to customer-care so that I can get emails, but nothing really happened.

Yes Sanjay, i get these mails all the time, however i havent been able to take advantage till now. Please check your junk mailbox as it may be going into it. Mine was, so i took it off from there and now it comes directly into main inbox.

When i sent my car for 30K service few weeks back, i did tell my RM to do AC service and provided him with code, however the entire service thing took too long hence he said he will do it next time when you bring in the car.

I have this feeling that service center is not happy with these mails coming in regularly. They try to run this off when you ask for this free stuff.

Thanks Nitin.
I will check my junk-mail.

About the car-spa, when my car went for the speed-sensor repair job last week, the RM told me that the Purple Club is offering free polishing and interior cleaning. He told me that he would get it done for my car.

The car did come back polished and cleaned. The dash looked shiny, almost oily which I didn't particularly like, but better than the dry-lifeless-battered by sun's heat look.

The exterior had a coat of wax as well. So at least for last 3-4 days, the car is not getting too dirty from rain and mud.

Good to hear that atleast some one took advantage of this service

Well i do self cleaning twice a month which includes waxing, removing tuff dirt spots, interior cleaning and (my fav) Alloy and Tyre cleaning. I do this to keep me active and worksout to be a good exercise. So didnt bother to bug my RM on it.

Just wondering if this is due to the tyres? have they been replaced or is he on the original set?

Going by the number of freebies being thrown around these days to existing owners & also taking into consideration the sales dwindling out, I sure the team at Mahindra would have realized the word of mouth (in-person & in forums across the internet) for the vehicle from the existing owners is pretty bad.

But I am sure ultimately what matters to us as owners, would be a better engineered vehicle than these freebies.

This might just get improved owing to price cut by Mahindra(quite interestingly they didnt have to do anything but dodge Indian regulations on criteria of being SUV). Prices lowered by 27,000 for W6 and 33,000 for W8.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Mahindra readies base ‘W4’ XUV500 variant.

Likely to be called the W4, this base model XUV will have no changes to the exterior or the mechanicals, although like the W6, it will be 2WD only. The W4 will get a more basic infotainment system and an air-con unit without automatic climate control, and will do away with convenience features like rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.

Mahindra has not yet green-lighted this new variant for showrooms. This is because it wants to see if the W6 and W8 variants (now with lower prices thanks to the new ground clearance rating) manage to re-ignite the sales charts.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

I have purchased a new OBD II device (much to the dread of my wife) and over the weekend tried to find out more about my vehicles performance and information relating to its operation. The weekend was spent trying to find out when the turbo kicks in and its characteristics.

Next, since the XUV does not come with a traditional temperature gauge we are not able to read when the vehicle reaches optimum running. To find this out, during my office run today, fixed on the parameters like engine coolant temperature, RPM, Time since vehicle started & vehicle speed.

From the data (graph given below) we can see that the optimum coolant temperature for the vehicle is 90 degrees Celsius. It took me around 16 minutes of city driving to reach this. The coolant temperature at the start was 32 degree Celsius. I was idling for around 3-4 minutes to set up the data in my laptop, which can be done only if the vehicle starts. So I am guessing it would taken me lesser time to reach optimum temp if I had followed the usual 30 secs of idle and started off, could be around 12-14 minutes.

Note: The small jump in temp that comes @ 4.8 minutes is due to loss of signal from the OBD device.
