I have the reverse camera installed in my XUV from Mahindra showroom and it works when i select it from the touchscreen option in vehicle info display while driving.

For the insurance - got a quote from the Dealer for "Zero" Depreciation for 35,500 (ICICI Lombard).

I am planning the below accessories as Priority 1:

1. Rear Bumper Guard (INR 5500)
2. Foot Rails (INR 18,500)
3. Scuff Plates (INR 1089)
4. Rear Camera (INR 5000)

Now the dealer has quoted me the above rates which I find to be on the higher side. What is the opinion of existing owners ? Will it be better to go with the Dealer or hunt outside in Lajpat Nagar? Will it void any waarantee of I look outside?

Ravi
I got a few accessories done from Lajpat. Below is what I paid:

1. Rear guard bar - Rs. 2400
2. LED scuff plates - Rs. 1100
3. Rain Visor - Rs 1000
4. Hella Horn (SKODA) - Rs. 800
5. Mats - Rs. 1300
6. Transparent mats (go on top of mats) - Rs 800

Pretty happy with the work and what I spent! Oh and for the insurance, I got zero dep. done for Rs. 31,000 from Tata AIG. Haggle them a bit and they'll do it!

I inquired for the rear camera from M&M but it was apparently out of stock. The SA told me that it would cost Rs. 800 for checking the frequency(!) and rest the cost of the camera. Is this frequency checking thing for real?

Ravi - You may jolly well fit aftermarket accessories. The only place where the dealer may try to fool you is to tell that aftermarket accessories need to cut / bolt on frame etc. Ask the dealer to "show" you the official product. If the aftermarket product comes with the same clamp, you can install it. As long as the accessories have the same connector as the orignal accessory, you can install the same without Voiding warranty.

There were thoeritical talks on that but i really doubt if that would be anyimte sooner than 3 years down the line. Mahindra's hands are full with Mini Xylo, Korando, Rexton, Verito CS, All New Scorpio etc. Secondly, They are unable to satiate the hunger for current XUVs, why would they concenrate on a twin turbo XUV. Heck - They are unable to provide the AWD W8 XUV. Go ahead and buy the current XUV if you like it.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Looks like XUV is in for a price raise. Was seeing their website and read this in the Price page -

"The prices for the next phase of booking will be announced tomorrow, 7th June 2012
at 3PM."

Thanks Tushar. Can you please attach the picture of rear bumper after the camera installed? I am trying to understand if camera can be installed on the black panel (rear bumper bottom panel without paint) So that it can be installed exactly at the middle. Since it is on black surface, it may not look out of place.

Also looking for a good set of Compos for front and Coaxials for rear. Would I be able to get it done in Bangalore? Any place suggestions? Currently my plan is only to change the speaker sets and use the stock HU and wiring.

My taste is more towards open vocals with a ultra clear strings and punchy bass. To relate, I really like the VW Jetta Highline ICE sound. I used to use Infinity compos in my previous car, but was not really satisfied with its SQ. SPL is not so important for me. My budget would be around 20K. Please suggest.

thanks
HCP

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

One quick question from the folks who have installed the reverse camera in their cars. Does it make the installed sensors redundant? Or can you choose whether to use the camera or the sensors? I personally find the sensors extremely useful and won't want to lose that functionality in order to install a camera.

Given the demand they have been seeing they would want to increase prices, there has already been 1.5 lakhs cumulative increase since launch due to price hikes and taxes.

The W8 FWD now is near 16 lakhs on road, moving it some way away from the initial enthusiasm of good value here and in other online discussion.

A further hike will not likely affect demand, someone spending 15.5-16 lakhs in not likely to step back for 50-75k.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Checked the prices after 3pm. For Bangalore, prices of all the three variants are unchanged since morning. Says prices are effective 8 June 12. Hopefully, it would not change when deliveries for tomorrow's bookings start !

The price list I have from Sireesh withe effect from 16th April has the same prices.
So we can conclude that M&M has not increased the prices after April.

Now the question is will Central Government increase the excise tax in the coming weeks?

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

One installer in Bangalore said I cannot change the speakers of XUV w8 as the HU will not detect the aftermarket speakers . Is this really true? How HU can detect speakers? Is it monitoring the impedance? People who already upgraded their speakers had faced any issues?

Thanks

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

I see that the current W8 pricing for Hyderabad is almost the same as in Bangalore. And yet, when I bought my W8 on 24th April it was 12.93L So I am assuming that the prices went up by almost 25L in between... either after I bought or else today after the new prices were put up on the site. Same must be true for Bangalore as well.
