Good news.. Heard that many parts of the Rapid are indigenised now and it is a good VFM option.. Hope the after sales service has also improved..

The price of the current petrol base variant is 7.56 lakh, the new price is a reduction by 57k which is substantial. Will the base variant come with two air bags and ABS? The news seems to suggest that but as far as I know the existing base variant doesn't offer these.

Have called up Tafe in JPNagar Bangalore on the pricing, yet to get a call back from them. Its really a good advertisement. I was on my toes when I read DSG for 6.99L.

It will be great if someone can post the new pricing here.

Also called another dealer. They themselves do not know the prices yet but mentioned it STARTS at 6.99 probably for the base petrol manual.

The print ad and online ads are clear....the anniversary edition is with DSG (but I guess only petrol). Usually, the anniversary edition is only ONE model...I mean there are generally no Anniversary editions for all existing variants.

Either it is a superb marketing effort by Skoda, or they are going to screw up their already damaged brand-name (by back-tracking on the claims of the ads).

Let's see.

Dealer in Delhi said for anniversary ex showroom car prices have been reduced across variants, also all the features mentioned in press release are present in top model only.

No dealer said DSG is present in starting priced model.

Okay, looks like the marketing team at Skoda is getting the terminology all wrong

.

What they are doing now is just a price reduction across all existing variants, as a sales gimmick for Sep 2015 (half-yearly sales targets).

'Anniversary Edition' generally refers to a special variant introduced with features not all available in a single existing variant, in order to make the customer feel that there is more value in it.

Very different from a price reduction across all variants, which is what is being done now.

Wow! Looking at the skoda site for the prices, there are in 24 Variants (13 Diesel and 11 Petrol).
Is this a record for number of Variants on offer for a car (atleast in India)? Lesser players are getting the heat from prominent players like Maruti and Hyundai. Now small brands (in India) have to start their Survival game.

Hi,

I checked with Skoda dealer today, saving is more on the DSG variant. Last month (Aug) dealer was offering free insurance and extended warranty but these offers are not available with Anniversary edition pricing. Hence actual saving might be slightly less than it appears.

Booked a 1.5 TDI MT Rapid Elegance Brilliant Silver.

Ex showroom price of the anniversary edition is 9.49 and OTR comes to 11.16 in Chennai.

No other discounts offered by the dealer.
