Get your battery checked, else it can be a issue with starter motor as well.

I agree that space without gloveboxes is great, but i feel it would be good to have a driver side glovebox only which is lockable as well. This way you have more options.

Have heard from a reliable source , they are coming with a new glovebox design as well.

Thanks sir, it looks amazing.

I am not sure how sturdy these are compared to standard rims.
Standard rims are really sturdy, i dont have a bent rim yet in my 12.5k of usage on all types of roads.:)

Does any one know of any company makes custom decals for Nano?
Some thing like the iMiev below will look great on Nano.

Guys, need help. Can anybody suggest me a source to buy 'Day and night rear view mirror' for the Nano online or in Hyderabad. Need it for my colleague.

Tata ASC couldn't provide it. Will the Santro's mirror fit ?

Please help.

I believe Tata Motors gets their decals for the Nano done from here

Classic Stripes
http://www.classicstripes.com/4_wheelers.html

(It was mentioned repeatedly when I wanted those specific decals but my request was turned down due to legalities.)

Another site I have known is this:

It's surprising the Tata guys aren't able to procure it. Since it's standard fitment in the LX model, it should be available with Tata, also in the accessories shops.

If your friend's Nano is not the LX model, you may have to check if the mirror will fit.

I booked a Special Edition LX Nano today, I am confused about the speakers that they provide in Special Edition. I met two dealers in the city today. One dealer said that the speakers are fitted below the dashboard in the front near the legs where the second guy said that the speakers are fixed by cutting the rear parcel tray. How can this be different across the dealers? Pre-special edition models had the speakers fitted in the front but in SE, since there is a glove box, that option is not possible. Can someone who has taken Special Edition recently answer this? How is the sound quality? The dealer said that the speakers are 4". Will this be audible in the front above the din the engine makes?

The speakers ARE in the front - in the front doors with a small magazine holder tray - rather nestled inside it.

Will try to upload a pic soon.

OE speakers SHOULD NOT be in the rear parcel tray. Please make sure.

I got a JVC HU. Some dealers offer Blaupunkt as well.
The sound quality is PRETTY decent - especially for something that is 'FREE'.

No jokes, it is quite clear, loud, good notes. Definitely not an enthusiasts choice - but extremely VFM for the average user.

EASILY audible over the 'din' ... but here - frankly I don't really hear the engine making all that much of a noise or ruckus - except in the 1st gear during pick up or slopes - it is pretty silent and WAY better than the 1st gen Nano.

Maybe your TD Nano was a abused one. Do pay a keen ear to your BRAND new NANO.
It's a SWEET engine and loves to driven around.
I recently did a 104 kms trip in a single day and BOY that engine is a MARVEL.
The run-in requires I be below 60 - but that peppy little fellow just keeps running ahead without a whimper - it's eager to push 80!

Thanks Dr Suraj. This makes me more uncomfortable, since even the dealer who said he will give it in the front was not giving it on the doors, but below the dashboard, which I think would easily be disturbed when you stretch your legs. I am worried if they are trying to fit non-OEM speakers. I have also written to Tata Motors customer care on what they recommend. Please do update a photo of your configuration.

Posting a pic here by tomorrow afternoon for sure!

Please check the website. It clearly MENTIONS in words and I believe a small thumbnail as well - about where the speakers are fitted!

Please ensure the dealer is indeed selling you a special edition car. I personally checked the special edition car on display before deciding to get the music system fitted into my car, only because the position of the speakers in the special edition (in the front door pockets) was something I preferred over fitting them under the dash or in the rear parcel tray.

There's a possibility the dealer you talked to is trying to use an existing LX model and accessorize it at his end before selling it to you as Special Edition. Your documentation (including the receipt, invoice etc etc) should clearly mention you are paying for and have been promised and will be given a Special Edition Nano.

@Dr. Suraj, you got a better deal in the HU front. My only choice was Sony, which has a horrible HU in terms of buttons and usage. I would have preferred Blaupunkt, even the cassette player, however by the time I made up my mind the dealer had cleared out all other HUs and only had Sony - that too only one model.

The Sony model is pathetic in terms of ease of use, since the FM radio buttons at the bottom cannot be easily distinguished, neither in day nor in night. But the sound quality is rather good. It's a two-speaker setup so there will be some loss of quality over a four-speaker one, but so far I have had no reason to complain.

The radio reception is rather weak, and I suspect the in-cabin antenna is to blame for that.

There are no special edition models in display in Hyderabad. Though I have been visiting the dealerships from October last week, I haven't seen any. The dealers have been telling me that there is no special varient called special edition. It is the esame LX with the accessories fitted in which happens at the dealers' end. I checked the booking receipt. It is mentioned as Nano LX 2012. There is no mention about special edition anywhere.

I spoke to my sales adviser about what I learnt from this forum. He said That Tata has not officially launched special edition IN AP. since there were so many enquiries about special edition they have given approval to the dealers to give these accessories with the models. At my insistence he said he will clarify with the Tata motors manager in ap and will provide me the contact of this manager so that I can talk to him. Tata has not responded to my email yet. Waiting with my fingers crossed.

Something is wrong. The special edition is being heavily advertised here. Although it's true it's the LX model with extra accessories, the major difference between the LX and the special edition is the body decals. I doubt if this is happening at the dealer's. My guess is today if you walked into any dealer's, you would be hardpressed to find a plain LX model. If you did find any it would be from the left over stocks. After all when you are getting 20k worth of accessories free, who would go for the plain LX?

Please do not go ahead till you receive communication from Tata on the same.

They are giving the decals as well. The only difference I see is the location of the speakers. The Special Edition has a provision to place the speakers in the doors, from what I read from the earlier posts. (I read that in the News Release here also)

But there seems to be some substance in what the dealer tells me also. I see two pages in the Tata Nano website.

http://tatanano.com/special-edition.htm This tells me that the offer is not valid in Andhra Pradesh where as http://tatanano.com/current_offers.htm tells me that it is not available only in Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa.

I have also not seen a single display piece in Hyderabad so far.

I have paid the booking amount of Rs. 5000/- but still have some time before I close the deal.

I meant there may be some truth in your statement that the special edition is not on sale in AP or specific regions, however if the dealer is selling you the special edition I doubt if he will have any say in where the speakers are placed. I saw around ten special edition Nanos parked at a Tata dealer, all with the same speaker placement. So I doubt if the dealer could place them elsewhere.
