I suggest you to pick the current model.

Why don't you try giving a mild facelift like what I've done

Ertiga sells well due to lack of competition in reality.
The 30K discount was seasonal, apparently But I guess if you are good a bargaining, you might get it again. And maybe, just maybe if Maruti does launch the facelift, the existing stock will get a good discount

Completely agree with you Anurag. It's more the lack of competition in this segment that is driving the sales. But I see a steady decline in sales in the last 2-3 months. How to read that?

I was also having the same dilemma as whether to buy the existing model or opt for the upcoming facelift one. After much bargaining got a deal of around 32k and also bumper-to-bumper insurance which looked lucrative to me considering almost no exterior tail lamp changes in the upcoming one which was my prime deciding factor. Also fitted the limited edition grill which is a direct fit. Hopefully you can get a better deal too

Thanks

News on the Internet is like wild fire, spreads too fast.

Many would have read regarding the chance of facelift releasing in the coming months so all would delay their purchases hence stocks moving out last from dealers end.

Hope Maruti does launch the facelift fast.

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

Let me add myself to the list of folks who are confused about whether to wait for the new model or not .. I checked with a dealer in Bangalore (BIMAL Motors) - The sales guy there says that the new one will come in 2-3 months. The surprising fact was that he was ready to take 10K booking advance from me.. (eventhough there is no clarity on the launch date)

From another 'reviewer' source I happened to hear that the launch will happen in end July/early August

I don't blame the sales guy. He is just doing his job. No sales guy likes to lose a customer. He is just trying to make you stick to him (assuming you mentioned to him that you are very keen on Ertiga)

But am more curious to know the reliability of your "reviewer source"

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

Can anybody tell me how to change battery in the ERTIGA key remote. On opening the key I am finding a module like this. How to open this module ? Is it press fit ? Does it have a battery inside ? What kind of battery ?

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

Completed 20K in my Ertiga yesterday in about 15 months. Had booked an appointment for last Sunday with Chowgules Katraj Service Station. But unfortunately they had a problem with their service bay, so postponed it to coming Sunday.

Apart from the oil change, is their any specific thing that I should look for? FYI I did the wheel balancing/alignment and tyre rotation last Friday. The average (15.7) looks on the lower side as even after a trip to Kolhapur on Saturday, it has gone up marginally (from 15.6 to 15.7)

I did change the engine filter at 17K, but no improvement in the average.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks
Yogesh

Regarding the service, go by the manual. Beware of extra services like decarbonization, injector cleaning, EGR cleaning etc. Please refuse straight away.

Regarding the low FE, it depends on the following:

1) Tyre pressures maintained,
2) Load on the car (read passengers and luggage),
3) Condition of air filter and fuel filter
4) Fuel quality.

By engine filter did you mean, air filter or fuel filter or oil filter?

There is a slot exactly in this area where you can insert a flat tip screw driver and split the case into two and gain access to the battery for replacing it.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

As per the manual air filter is to be changed at 20K but at last servicing at 10K it was changed

4) Fuel quality.
Regularly getting it filled at only one petrol pump since day one. No issue faced till now. But the average is progressively going down from 16.3 to 15.5 now in city conditions. Didn't improve on highway

I meant engine oil filter.Attaching a pic

Please let us know how this fared. I am getting a minor squeak/ squeal. I am currently at 23,500 Kms. I have not been able to isolate with 100% certainty whether its due to the steering, or the new tyres (I have new Continental ContiContacts).

Has anyone else faced this issue?

re: Review: 1st-gen Maruti Ertiga

Got the 4th Servicing done at CIL, Kataraj. Total damage Rs 8,390.

Got the following for free
1) Broken rear wiper
2) Door auto-lock not working

Will take the issue with them. I hope and pray, they haven't cut corners with the servicing. Only time will tell
