Last week, we got all 4 tyres changed on our 2016 Duster AMT. Got it changed at Madhu's Mysore. Our stock tyres had run for around 55k and had done a pretty decent job. While searching for a replacement, we did look into Goodyear, Ceat Czar, Yokohama, MRF Street, Bridgestone Dueller and Michelin.

Ceat czar was not recommended by the guys at Madhu's but was the cheapest of the lot. They recommended Goodyear, Yokohama or Michelin for my usage. Michelin was most expensive of the lot, priced around 9500 to 10000/tyre. Yokohama and Goodyear were priced around 8300/tyre.

Before heading to Madhu's we called up few shops for the availability of MRF wanderer sport (Stock tyre). But, all of them had MRF Wanderer Street and strangely, only one shop had sport but only 2 tyres were available. Eventually, we settled for Yokohama Geolander A/T G015.

There was no buy back for our old tyres (Not that we were expecting a big amount from it) and we brought it back home.

Total cost : 8300 * 4 = 33200 + 800 for Alignment and Balancing = 34000

Observations:

• Considerable reduction in road noise.
• Braking felt good (Might be too early to comment)

Once you go with the internationally established brands, you might never want to switch back. MRFs were the worst experience I had and Michelins have been the best followed by Yokohama. Apollo was strictly average but better than MRF.

Have had mixed reviews about Goodyear and Continental and hence keeping away from them for now.

Went cloud chasing with some photographer friends around chitradurga and clicked some good ones of the dusty. It lost the right side ORVM yesterday to a pole but performed beautifully in the semi off road conditions. Happily chugging along at 212k kms
Ps- the last picture actually looks like a brochure shot, not bad for a 5 year old vehicle.

On the lookout for used tyres of the duster for a very good friend of mine at Bangalore. Should have usable life left in them. Can be picked up. Anybody wants to part theirs or any recommended places for a good deal?

Michelins are amazing. Completed 15k on the Primacy SUV. Way better than the stock MRF.

I own a 2016 Duster RXZ AMT, which has run 55k kms.

Service manager here (Bengaluru) is suggesting me to take Renault Easy Care. It's a kind of AMC, prepaid maintenance program. Attached the details.

For my Duster, I have to pay Rs.35056 for the 3 years/30k kms package and he says I can save $$$ on services, parts etc.

I have to change timing belt at 60k kms and timing belt itself costs Rs.12k. Since timing belt is covered in this package, I am thinking it's a good idea to buy 3 years/30k kms package.

How about extended warranty (anytime warranty) also, it costs Rs.18.5k.

Just wanted to know if anyone of you bought it and is it worth, please share your experience and feedback.

Our warranty ran out this May - 2020. We did discuss about extended warrant and AMC. I think the warranty was 18.5k was per year and we found that to be bit on the expensive side.

One of the major problems in Duster AMT diesel are the injector failures. Based on the information available on the forum, it should cost 25k/failure.

Recently my friend purchased a used 2012 duster, we took the car to the Renault service center and i enquired about the injector failures and other issues, they acknowledged the issue and told me that earlier they simply used to replace the failed injectors but now they repair it which significantly reduces the costs. You can enquire about the injector repairs at your service center as well

My extended warranty expired in June 2020 (there were no reminders), Service adviser saying I should have renewed 6 months in advance as per new renewal policy, which would have costed me around 10k which was reasonable. Now since it is expired, they are offering something called "Anytime Warranty" which costs 18.5k, but I can take anytime after the vehicle inspection itseems.

One more catch, it's a III party inspection for extended warranty claims, they moved away from 'TVS', now it's a different company called 'Assurance' or something. They say extended warranty claim won't be honored even if we had crossed a single prescribed service deadline !!!

Can anyone share details about that diesel filter used for duster/terrano 2014 model, has it changed in the latest one? (OEM name and part number)

I am getting an WIX aftermarket one. ( is it any good? Or better ones available)I am trying to confirm that it is the right part been used.

In general, please try to use OEM diesel filter as its crucial part and and quality lapses can cause bigger problem.
I have seen renault OEM diesel filter for duster as well as nissan OEM for sunny/micra etc. the diesel filter used for many of these cars is same.

Thanks, do you have the part number or other details, it really hard to source the filters sadly.

I dont have part number. Its not needed. It will be diff number for logan, verito, duster, sunny, micra as well as terrano. However, the actual part is same. You need to check with local shops for the diesel filter for any of these. It will fit and work 100%

Went mild offroading today. One clip of it. Two places were scary it got stuck in the mud. Found the power of the 85 lacking and also missed AWD a lot. Also the underside brushed at many places. The front clearance on the duster is less as compared to the rear. But AT tires helped a lot in the grip. We were out of network area and a good 1 hour away from nearest village. Getting stuck would have been a mess😅
