Re: Confused: 2014 320 D sportline vs 2016 320 D prestige (facelifted)

Since you seem happier with the sport line model, I would go ahead with that one. To me the lack of a proper ICE system is a deal breaker in the prestige.

I think you can negotiate some more for the 2013 car. Used market hasn't picked up that much yet.

Re: Confused: 2014 320 D sportline vs 2016 320 D prestige (facelifted)

None of the above!

I'd recommend going for a new 320d. How much is the price diff anyway? I presume close to 10 lakhs discount is fairly common on Bimmers. Will it not bring the new price car really close to deals you are getting? Please take an informed call..

In certain cities (notably Delhi, maybe Mumbai), the prices of used cars tend to drop much faster than some other cities. Yes, it is a function of original purchase price, but is equally a culture of car habits (quick changes etc.)...and thus, it makes great sense to buy a depreciated asset. Chennai isn't one of those cities.

best of luck

I would say go for the older sportsline with warranty. That is without a doubt. While the newer one has the new gen engine, and led lights, its missing out of a lot of feel good features. Even the instrument cluster is very basic. And theres no point in spending so much if you don't have some of the feel good features too.

Resale value will not be very different a few years down the line.

re: BMW 320d & 328i (F30) : Official Review

I went and test drove the 2014 320 D sportline today, I was very impressed with the interiors and the road presence of the car. The red and black combo inside is very impressive. Things I noticed about the car, the engine was a little rough / coarse. I guess this is because its the older engine. My friend was floored by the car he wanted me to buy it on the spot, the person was willing to negotiate. He started with a quote of 33.5 L, I brought it down to 27. The car was in good condition, 8/10 for the exteriors and 9/10 for the interiors .. It had a few scratches that need to be taken care of, scratch on the hood near the emblem, rear and a deep scratch on the front right alloy.

I drove a 2016 320 D Prestige immediately after that, things I noticed with the newer car. Condition of car exterior 9.5/10, interiors 9/10. It felt like a brand new car. The brakes were very sensitive, the engine was very smooth and responsive, quick. Led tail lights and head lamps look good. However the interiors were not to my taste, it was decent. It had cream seats and a cream interior since it is the prestige model. The car was practically brand new, he was willing to let go of it for 32 L. The car has warranty valid till 2018, the 320 D sport warranty is valid till 2018 too.

10 Lac or so discount on 3 series is common now, the moment car moves from showroom expect at least 25 % depreciation in most of the cases. Make your offers accordingly. But I must tell you nothing beats freshness of a new car If you plan to keep it for long than given present discounts better buy a new one.

Bird Gurgaon has 2 luxury line 320d (blue and black) for which they are offering 11 lakhs off the ex showroom price , 100% funding , interest rate @ 7.99% and good price for the old car if exchanged. The deal sounds unbeatable and the ultimate cost of ownership shall be far less than the used cars discussed above.
I shall go check the cars after lunch and I can fetch answers for questions, if any.

I think they have more, similar or better deals on Petrol as well. Check if they have something more lucrative on M-320D as well.

FB1, what did you finally decide. I am in a similar dilemma, wondering if I should go for one of the older crop of 320Ds from 2012/13 or more recent ones.

What is the effective OTR for the car after that discount?

For Haryana registration they quoted 31.5 lakhs as the ex-showroom price and 38 lakhs as the on road price. This includes the insurance worth about 1.2 lakhs ,TCS on the discounted exshowroom, handling charges of Rs 75 thousand and 10% registration charges on the non discounted retail price.

I believe it shall be cheapest if one can buy car from Bird Delhi showroom thus avoiding the handling charges, paying lesser ex-showroom because of less VAT and getting it registered in Uttarakhand .

The discount offered was about 11.5 lakhs off the ex-showroom price on the luxury line as well as the M320d . Luxury line now comes in white , blue and black only. Colors not in stock can be ordered from the factory with a precondition that the billing shall be done on 31st March and delivery on the 5th. 4.5 lakhs discount on X1 makes it a worthy contender too.

Good cars at a good price, relatively.

Hi so I have decided to go with my instinct, it was a tough choice. Newer face lifted base model (prestige) with boring interiors and styling vs older well maintained low mileage sports line ( top end model - black leather seats, sporty interiors, 9 speaker surround sound system), aggressive looks. I have decided to go with the slightly older high end model since I know I will want to upgrade to a new 3 series when the next generation model is out (2019). I would rather spend less and get all the features I want rather than spend more and get a base model which will be phased out soon anyway. If you want the car for a longer period I would suggest that you go for a 2016 model.

I have come across this 2012 320d Prestige done 25000 kms, first owner, insurance needs to be done. Owner is quoting 19.85 on add. Car is in Bangalore. I am yet to talk to him. What should be the right price to quote.

Nothing more than 16L. 5 years means no warranty and now you won't be able to get zero dep insurance either. You'll need to change the tyres too which will cost another 50k. The max you should bargain to 16.5 L and with your new tyres and insurance it should be around 17.25 L take home price.

19.85 for 5 years old Prestige version is too high.
Right price to quote could be between 15-15.5L as you will need to factor in the tyres and insurance costs on top of keeping 2L aside for any unforeseen part failures.

Also, 25k kms running for a 5 years old car is little too less. Please check if the car was idle for a long duration (6+ months). In such case, better to avoid it as these cars tend to cause more problems than the ones with continual usage.

re: BMW 320d & 328i (F30) : Official Review

Some great discounts going on F30, recently got a family member about 12 Lakhs off a 520, I'm sure there are crazy 530 deals going on too!

Anyways, I am contemplating selling my car. Ownership thread. Might be moving abroad so better to do it now, than a distress sale. The car warranty is till Oct 2018 and done about 32,000 KM what do you think is a fair asking price for it?
