If the speakers are real good and worth it, go for a pair of wooden box that would also add up to better acoustic effect.
I get almost all the accessories done at TORQUE [Jeevan Bheema Nagar, opposite to Indra Nagar Telephone Exchange]. So far, so good, its been 8 years now with the box I got it done there.

I suggest you get new speakers itself. Reduces the hassle of explaining to the SA's that replacing speakers does not cause problems with components covered under warranty & hence the warranty itself. Also, 6.5" speakers will help you keep the look stock - and Neat.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

The speedometer of the Safari in the video is skewed.

When the guy starts the video, he is behind the Old Zen (which would be at least 10 years old). Then he identifies himself and when he turns the camera to show the speedometer, he is still behind the Zen, but is doing 140 kmph. I just can't believe this. Additionally, I know how the surroundings move at 140 kmph.

Hope it's not another "niggle" in the Storme! Wonky speedos!

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Guys, a new issue.

Th bottom of each of the 4 side doors have 3 capsule shaped holes for water to drain out. This is water that I guess enters through the window glass panes. The tailgate has 4 of these.

Now some of these holes have a sort of rubber thing poking out of them with a stright longitudnal slot. While most of the others do not. In some I can see these rubbers loose inside the door (can move them around with your finger).

I am guessing these rubber things are to channel the water flow out of the doors so that it does not pool, nor does it flow out touching the metal of the doors. I have noticd rusting / discoloration in the shape of the water flow below all of those holes that do not have these rubber things.

I spoke to the service manager of Tata and he inspected some brand new Stormes in the loading bay and said he did not see these rubbers in them as well.

That does not convince me at all, because as I asked him, what else were these loose rubber things floating around inside the doors and where else were they supposed to fit/what were they supposed to do. Obviously assuing that them floating free was not a design spec of TATA.

Can someone please confirm what these are and whether they are supposed to be there/where are they supposed to be fit/part number? Also, what to do about the rusting which has started because of the water flow? I am worried about that as I have heard of Dicors rusting there as well. :(

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

I had read about TML being a reactive company in terms of service, but it seems JLR is brining lot of money for them. They are not at all interested even to sell cars in India.

I had booked a Storme TD on 28th Nov through their portal and have a purchase plan around Feb 2014. Either a Storme or a XUV. They have till not called me back yet. They just sent an automated text which says "Thank you for your interest in TATA - STORME". I think they are happy with interests of people only.

There are these holes in old ones too. Both on top and below the door,on all 4.

Maybe you guys dont see it coz it plugged by the rubber cap.

Thanks JK - thats exactly right. There are these rubber bungs at all these capsule shaped holes. Extended like a spout with a horizontal slit like opening for water to come out of. Most of the holes do not have them in place. They are lying loose inside the door anels or have fallen out. These spout like thingies direct the flow of water away from the painted surface. Without these rubber things in place the water still flows out, but along the painted surface. Leaving rust/discoloration marks in the shape of the water stream.

Dear Ebonho - (sorry, I have lost your contact for the second time when my mobile phone hung up on me recently, please PM me again) - the "thingies sprouting out" are non-return valves, they allow water to drain but prevent reverse flow of debris etc. All holes are not supposed to have them. The "brown thingy" is wax, applied in the paint shop. Please post close-up photographs. I want to see the existence of actual rust for comparison.

Sorry for off-topic paragraph - did you read about the bullet brake failure in Dehradun? How do I buy such a vehicle? I guess it'll have to be a Harley now, but I can't afford it! .

Dear hyper-VTEC - please PM me your contact number immediately, this is ridiculous, this can't happen!

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Hyper-Vtec - this definetly happens with TML and probably with other car makers also. I have sent emails to the customer contact id given in their website with no response at all. I would suggest you just call up any dealership and take it forward. Have PMed you Tafe reach SUV segment sales person's #. pls speak to him and take it forward. You cant let an inefficient website based lead generation tool to deprive you of a TD of a potent vehicle which could become your next ride
