So to answer your question in simple terms, change the oil and fuel filter only for now. Once the car does 15K kms give for the schedule service where all the fluids will be changed afresh.

Having a piece of mind is important than thinking about the cost of the filters.

Fuel filter in Dicor / vericor needs to be changed at 30K and not 15K it is with a sensor and costs around 2000 rs.
If there is no halting / gasping or error code there is no need for fuel filter change.

About oil and oil filter you can get it changed of you think you must.

Talk to T.A.S.S they are mostly flexible and can enter in the database your oil change and mark 3rd service completed in database to honour warranty schedule.

500 kms done on the Beast. No issues faced so far (touchwood). Have got an FE of 10 kmpl 100% AC and city driving.

Ohh btw, got the chance to hear the turbo whistle yesterday while cruising on the Faridabad Gurgaon expressway.

FE had dropped about 10%, and was feeling the occasional jump ..
Air Filter replaced, all's well. Engine feels much smoother. FE is looking much better now.

How many Kms has your truck done till now that you changed the air filter? I got mine cleaned some time back and has made a difference but not much. Also how much did it cost?

Is it that the filter and the sensor need to be changed every 30K kms? I can understand the filter change but I don't understand the need to change the sensor every 30K.

@Storme'd, I have done 19.3k now. The FE had dropped for the last 1500 km or so ..

I normally have cleaned the filter, but had not done it with the Storme. The new filter costs Rs 781 here. (Rs 697 before taxes). With the AMC, I did not have to pay anything.

Thanks Condor. Was it easy to get them to change it under AMC? When I went with my problems they didn't once suggest changing it despite me having a gold amc!

condor - so you changed the air filter at the 15k service and then again at 19.3k against the AMC ?

Hi, need some advice on the running in period. If I follow the speed limits suggested in the manual for gear shifts then the revs go high and the engine is noisy. However, if I shift based on what I hear eg. shifting in 5th when above 55kmph then the transition is smooth and the engine doesnt make any noise. What should I follow??

The ABS and discs were tested yesterday, in pitch dark on the faridabad ggn expressway 4 cows came running from nowhere, slammed hard and the Storme stopped without a fuss, did fee a bit of the nosedive but I guess thats a function of an SUV design.

Gear shift pattern doesn't have much to do with the running-in period, except for the limitation on maximum speed.
Shifting to 5th at 55 is too early as you'll be lugging the engine up from 1000 rpm. But I also agree that the up-shift speeds suggested in the manual feel slightly higher. Personally, I find up-shifting at 20-40-60-80 more suitable on plain roads.

Just a suggestion for gear shifting:

0 - 20 = 1st to 2nd
20 - 35 = 2nd to 3rd
35 - 55 = 3rd to 4th
55 - 65 = 4th to 5th.

Try this and see how it feels. Though it is similar to what YGarg Sir has suggested.

The Air filter had not been changed during the 15k service. I should have thought of it earlier.

Please read the owner's manual again. I think the speeds mentioned there are the Maximum speed for each gear - the speeds that should not be exceeded.

My suggestion:
1. Change at a speed that is neither too low nor too high.
2. When on the highway , vary the engine speed. Do not stick to the same rpm for extended periods.

Yes this is what I try to follow, purely based on what I hear from the engine and prevent any shudders.

Thanks for this, I have been driving at consistent RPM on the expressways I use though 10-15 km max, but still will try to vary it.
