Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.2L GT TSI : Official Review

How about the spare wheel on the new GTs? Is it an alloy wheel or a steel rim? The highline Polo receives a steel rim.

The new GTs come with 14inch steel rims,I guess they have narrower tyres

Bad news for those who are going to buy the GT TSI.

Volkswagen has gone on a cost-cutting spree and the new batch of cars coming in lose a few things.

- The fabric on the door cards has been deleted. It is now plain black plastic.

- The leather wrap on the hand-brake has been deleted.

- The chrome accents on and around the headlight switch have been deleted. (not sure if it's been like this since the facelift was introduced)

- Apollo Accelares / Alnacs make way for MRF ZVTVs, or worse, JK tyres!
As someone who just booked the Polo TSI barely 3 weeks prior, this update is very disheartening. These cheap cost cuttings are going to leave a distaste in the mouth of potential/new owners..

What is more disappointing or difficult to accept that things like fabric doorpads are still not changed on the regular Polos (that's what I heard).

Can anyone, who has taken delivery of the new Polo with these mentioned changes, post the photos of the said changes? I tried to go see a new Polo this past weekend but couldn't due to the bandh. (coming weekend also out for car service). Much appreciate efforts of anyone who can.

.

New GTs comes in all black interiors, so as per me fabric doorpads doesn't make sense at all .
Even bmw's all black interiors doesn't include fabric doorpads

Apart from the missing spare alloy, things are still the same compared to the older GT model.

Cheers

I think the bimmer comes with a one step up, Leather door pads. I witnessed the GT in person yesterday and indeed the doorpads were just plain plastic although a little soft touch.
The highline standing next to it had both leather on the handbrake and fabric doorpads.

Initial ownership report should go live in a week or so.

Even though the new GTs have all black interiors, the fabric does not look out of place at all. In fact, it feels nice when you rest your elbow on it.

Also, the chrome accents around the headlight swicth is present on the pre-facelift GT but is missing on the current GT.

A friend owns the pre-facelift GT. I will post a detailed comparison in my ownership report.

It's good quality plastic, but it's not soft touch.

The Treadline Polo on the showroom floor wore Apollo Alnac tyres where as my car had MRF ZVTVs. The Cross Polo had fabric on the doors and leather on the handbrake too. Very disappointing,

A friends pre-facelift GT TDI came with a plain black headlight switch, whereas my vento has the chrome/aluminium accents.
Does this mean some lucky GT owners get the accents and the others don't? That's pretty unfair.

,
GT variants never had that. Ganesh's GT was amongst the first few in tbhp, and he had actually swapped that switch with one with chrome accents.

I did not pay attention to the section where one lifts the hand brake, if it has leather or not. I was under the impression that the section beyond the hand brake grip was also covered in leather. The plastic housing visible, beyond the grip, is the same one I was referring to some posts earlier.

Will check and revert.

If my memory serves me right, the pre-facelift GT I'm talking about is a TSI and one of the first cars to roll out of the factory.

Guys, the GT never came with the alu. trim on the knobs AFAIK. The Vento had it but some reported the newer ones to come with the black ones.

Visually yes, but when resting my arm on the doorpads it feels good! Coming from the Swift with no fabric part on the horizontal area, the Polo felt comfy when resting my arm.

My GT TDi doesn't have a rear spoiler. Looks like they forgot to put it on while on the assembly line

Now that is something really serious . How old is your car?
Even it might be late but you should really take it up with VW .

Spoiler is something which you have noticed, but how about something which might not visible.

Ya a snap of the car would be really helpful .

The place where you rest your arm, that still has fabric inserts on it.
