Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Has anyone here fitted 'towel' type seat covers? How is the overall fit & finish? Could you let me know the place/website you bought from? Thanks!

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Looks like Ford India is coming up with Customisation center specially for Ford Ecosport in Chennai. This will allow the customers to choose among various options to get them fitted in factory than in the showroom as an accessory.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

The EcoSport now gets Ford's SYNC AppLink feature, first seen on the Fiesta. This is available only on the Titanium variants:

Quote:
Ford has introduced the AppLink feature with the SYNC infotainment system on the Ecosport. AppLink allows users to access smartphone applications through voice-commands.

...

one of the applications that have been introduced is ESPN Cricinfo. Besides, Ford AppLink also comes with Explore (powered by MapMyIndia), and a secure location sharing app called Glympse. Ford is working with several app partners in India and across the globe to add to the list

I wish. As per Ford the AppLink is a different hardware than the older SYNC and not compatible.

I had asked this during the Fiesta drive thinking I could upgrade my Ecosport SYNC.

Are you sure? Because the system menu does contain something related to Applink.

I tried that and it's not Applink. It's SYNC applications which are not available in India.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

The existing Ecosport Sync menu does contain Applink control but its not functional. I have no idea what extra hardware is needed, as the apps communicate with the head unit via bluetooth which is already there. I thought a firmware update will do the trick, & Sync firmware is user upgradable also. Hope existing owners do no miss out this feature which is supposed to be there from day 1. The applink feature ads are already out on paper. Here is one from a popular Calcutta newspaper today:

Today, I noticed an intermittent 'hissing' sound coming from under the dashboard. Sounds like the hissing of steam when drops of water fall on a hot radiator. I turned off the music and AC thinking it may be from either one, but the noise was still there. It seemed to occur only when the car was in motion; could not hear it while idling. Is this normal, or does it require a visit to the service center?

Sorry about the back to back posts, but I don't have edit privileges. Just an update to the above post: my wife, who was in the passenger seat says that it sounded more like 'shhh shhh' instead of hissing.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

It just might be the AC gas circulating inside the system.

Check if this hss shh happens without AC on also. ie Morning when you start car switch off ac and then check, once you run the sound can come for a short while even after you kill the compressor.

Yes, the sound kept coming with the AC switched off. According to my wife, it sounded more like 'shhh shhh' than the hiss of gas in the AC coils.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Should rule out if there is water collection happening inside the coil area/blockage of AC drain pipe, And also if coolant circulation for heating system not the culprit.

That is all i can think off.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Here's what happened today. Received a call from a local Hyundai dealership.

Him: Is this Mr Naveen, Can you please spare 5 minutes with me for a short survey.
Me: Go ahead.
Him: What's the color and model of your ecosport?
Me: . How do you know that I own an ecosport?
Him: We have a list of customers.
(I didnt want to go deep into it so asked him to continue)
Him: What do you like about the ecosport?
Me: Urban SUV, goodies, safety
Him: What do you miss/dislike?
Me: Auto folding mirrors, hard suspension
Him: What alternatives you had when you went to buy the ecosport?
Me: Nil. No other alternatives. Went with the ecosport.

He went ahead with few more questions and was trying hard to convince me to dislike ford or wait for the Hyundai compact suv. He repeatedly asked whether I would sell the car in 2-3 years since its already more than a year old.

Finally asked him why this survey was conducted and that too by another manufacturer. Said Hyundai is bringing an ecosport rival so wanted to see if there are any ecosport customers who are planning to switch over or looking for an alternative.

What a strange marketing strategy? Are they so desperate?
