City any day, while it's not a fair comparison (different fuel types)

I think he meant iDTEC. In that case, the Ecosport wins hands down. The City diesel engine sounds like a pickup truck.

Well when it comes to engine refinement, yes the city wins. But in other areas also? Traffic noise etc?

Not to hijack the EcoSport thread, but the Honda City's cabin insulation is certainly not 'good' - my dad owns a Honda city, and though its tin metal and zero insulation, you can hear the sounds from outside world really clearly.

There is no engine NVH insulation under the hood or on the firewall - the car is quiet at low RPMs, as the engine is quiet - we still clearly hear the radiator fan when ever it operates.

Ford EcoSport diesel is far better in terms of insulation for noises. It is heavier, with thicker glass all around - something that the lightweight City cannot match.

Hello fellow BHPians,

I'm in a problem. I lost my key for the Spare wheel mounted on the boot of the car. In case of an emergency I wont be able to unlock it. I need your suggestions. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

The lock nut key is unique to each car, and the key code is linked to your car's VIN. Only Ford ASS can help you get a replacement.

I don't think the lock nut is as unique as a Key. I believe the design repeats after a set number of cars.
But still only ford guys will be able to help on this.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

The Autocar review vs Vitara Breeza somehow felt biased as just because being a Maruti car which would sell in large numbers they selected the Breeza as being the better of the two for those who do not prioritize driving pleasure.

Quite silly. Maruti clout seemed to be forcing a more positive review for the Breeza.

Yes I was able to get the issue rectified- Its an extra vibrating sound that is produced due to the lose fitting of the front panel above the headlamps. He tightened it correctly and the sound vanished
Glad to note that your problem is rectified. My problem was different. I used to hear the sound from under the belly somewhere near to the silencer exhaust. However after 2 year service, did not notice the grinding sound.

Don't worry
The spare wheel lock nut key repeats for every 5 cars.
-Go to the Ford ASS centre remove the lock nut using the key of one of the cars which are there for service.
-Place an order for the new key by using your chassis number.
-Buy a regular nut and use it till you get your new key.

Hope this helps

The link for that review is .

It seemed that Autocar was trying hard to be neutral while pushing for the Vitara as a winner of the showdown !!!
Despite Ecosport being a 3 year old car, it still manages to hold its own. Apart from the spunky looks and a wider cabin for vitara, it fails to convince me how it can be a better car than Ecosport. You name the parameters i.e Build, Safety, Engine, Dashboard etc
The only reason for Vitara doing well than Ford would be the the network (sales and service) and the looks (for those who find it spunky).

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Ecosports is league ahead from vitara. I have been a proud owner of Ecosports. The design of Ecosports was ahead from its time and still giving a tough competitons to all new sub 4m suv. Matter of fact I was laughing when I first saw nuvosports, I was like what..? If there were no copyright and patent issue I'm sure Mahindra woukd keep the name as Ecosports with its overdone body work.

One more thing about Maruti in India is synonymous term for liability which people fail to understand. Our Ford Ecosports requires yearly or 10k service where as Maruti biannual with 5k.

On the contrary, the owner's manual of my brother's Swift clearly mentions the service interval as 10,000 kms or 12 months, whichever comes earlier. It is the MASS's which constantly keep bugging owners with service reminders at 6 month intervals.
