There is rumour that the SUV might be priced at Rs.6.20 lacs for the base variant. If this is true, Duster & few premium hatches could face wiping off of quite a few units sold every month.

I think the most important variant in terms of sales volume will be Trend Diesel. I would closely watch the price point for this one.
The most frequently quoted number for the base Petrol Ambient is Rs. 6.2 lacs ex showroom across all the on-line forums. THis is indeed an aggressive price point for Ecosport overall.
Now, if I use this number as a baseline and look at the Trend Diesel variant, I then tried to summarize the additional feature points and what I think the value attributable to each is, which is added to the above price point of Ambience Petrol. I have then subtracted the excise benefits (assuming Ford passes these on to the buyer) to arrive at a possible price point for Trend Diesel:
- Diesel Engine of equivalent capacity (+1 Lac)
- ABS (+ 40K)
- Convenience features (Steering wheel audio controls, under seat storage, rear package tray, vanity mirror, Rear defogger + washer/wiper etc) (+10K)
- Appearance features (Body colored OVRM, handles etc) (+5 K)
- Comfort (Driver seat height adjustment, rear seat split & tumble, rear seat recline, rear power windows etc.) (+15K)
- Excise Benefit (Difference of 12% on a base price of about Rs.7.1 Lac, assuming Ford passes on full benefit to customer) (-85K)
Net Result = Rs. 7.05 Lacs ex-showroom
At this price point, I would consider Trend Diesel fully worthwhile to go for.

I heard the Ford executive mention that the emergency assist feature will be available for lifetime free of cost. Doesn't this mean that it will have it's own cellular connection for calling the emergency number?
Possibly we don't need to have an active bluetooth mobile phone connection for the emergency assist to work.

It just uses the BT. It still uses the GSM of you paired phone to make the call.
You still need the phone! :)
