Is that insurance from the dealer? I've heard (and read on this thread) that people who've obtained their insurance themselves have saved upwards of 10k, if you're interested to go that route.

Congratulations on the EcoSport

Yes thats dealer's quote for Insurance. I am going with the non-dealer option for Insurance somewhere around 22-26k for zero dep without NCB.

Sales guy tried to strong arm me saying that Insurance can only be taken from the dealer. Had a few choice words for him and Ford and told him not to even bring this up again. He then asked whether I would opt for the accessories at least

Dealers earn quite a bit from insurance, so you getting insurance outside is loss of business for them. That is why they usually insist on you getting insurance through them.

This was one thing in which I didn't face any resistance from Lathangi Ford. The SA did plead that I do it through them and even tried to offer some discounts, but no compulsion. Saved 17K.

I thought the Ford recommended pressure is 35. Even remember reading that in the manual. No?

It is 30 for normal load & 35 if the car is fully loaded! So for the city, I always keep it at 30 and I has a big impact on the ride quality!

Could you please brief me about how you got in contact with them? That'd be really helpful. My SA is trying to ignore me now and I'm tired of waiting.

I got a zero depreciation insurance for my yet to be delivered Titanium Diesel priced at Rs. 918840/- ex showroom, for 18 K from HDFC Ergo.
May be you want to consider someone other than what your dealer recommends.

Can anyone here describe the process to get the insurance done from some other insurance provider. I mean the how and whom to approach? Steps involved etc.

Just get it online...best and cheapest way. You need to have engine and chassis number that's it or call customercare of any provider to guide you.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

The best way is check with policy bazaar, they have their own discounts and each insurance company has different discounts for different cities which also you can check at the call center of Policy bazaar , the are very helpful.
Also check with dealer for which companies they have tie ups helps during claims.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

I got a call just about an hour ago from a Ford dealership in New Delhi, where I had inquired about the Ecosport, before booking mine at Harpreet Ford, Moti Nagar. The lady was asking if I had booked an Ecosport or am I considering a different car.

I guess the initial hype is almost over and things are settling down. (read: Footfalls at Ford's showroom's are falling)
