re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

Visited the showroom alongwith a friend who is looking for a new car. Liked the rear look of the car , interiors are ok, back leg room space is good but difficult for 3 people to sit comfortably. Very oddly placed sit adjustment knob. My hand got stuck between the door and the seat Overall didn't find the car appealing enough. I would place it in "buy this car for your better half" category

re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

Took a test drive of the Grand i10 diesel for a friend (he is still learning) at the trident showroom . Driveability is amazing in city and the car drives great at city speeds . Could not check the power delivery at higher speeds .
And yes, interior quality is top notch .
He booked the WIne Red Magna Diesel .

Folks who went for TD,
Are they giving a steel or alloy spare wheel?

re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

I registered on Hyundai India site yesterday and got a call within an hr from Hyundai.

They took my details and asked which is my preferred dealer based on my location. Today morning i got a call from a local dealer and they informed me that the prices and demo car is available but test drives will begin in a couple of days as they are yet to sort the RTO formalities.

Have asked them to call me back once Diesel TD car is available and they have promised to do so and also bring the car over to my office / residence if i am unable to find time to visit them. Way to go Hyundai. Really impressed by the prompt communication.

Looking forward to the TD.

Regards,

re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

The torque range of this small motor(diesel) is impressive.

16.3 kgm @1,500~2,750 rpm. Also, it is chain driven DOHC. However, it is not an all aluminum engine; cast iron block with aluminum head.

re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

Externally I see clean cut lines and a very refined form of their fluidic sculpture. The eagle-eye headlamps will be missed but the present headlight is neat too, except maybe its all straight lines. Interiors as expected, neatly finished and a little different from their waterfall concept dashboard. Its evident that plastics and layout is extremely mature and high quality. Steering wheel is good but maybe they should've put smaller buttons so there's a little room to rest the thumb on the side spokes without worrying about flicking them. Space seems liberal.

I always respected Hyundai for the value proposition they give and this is no different, keyless go/stop is a segment first. Seats are well designed. Overall like the presentation says, its a great deal for a family of 4 looking for comfort, safety and a little gizmotronic fun. Prices are extremely pleasing.

Thank you for the pictures, .anshuman! Some questions:

Any idea about the ground clearance and kerb weight?

Is the gear pattern (R to the left of 1st, engaged by pressing the button below the knob) applicable only to the diesel or to the petrol as well?

Finally, when can we expect the official Team-Bhp review?

Thanks. So looks like Hyundai has done changes in the lines of what was done in Verna (cost cutting wherever they could and switches illumination.)

I see that Steering mounted controls are illuminated. Are the power window switches illuminated in all the door pads?

re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

This car will surely affect the sales of Diesel models of Swift, Ritz, Figo, i20 and current Petrol i10. But upto what extend, only time will tell.

IMO, this car is an i10, whose front is degraded to look like Eon (that doesn't mean that current i10's front is good), while rear is upgraded to look like i20.

re: Hyundai Grand i10 Preview

Priced very high.
Side profile looks like micra, which I dont like.
Will wait to see how it looks on the roads.
Currently not impressed with what is shown.
