It seems that the demand of Honda City is ever increasing. I'm the last of the lucky few to get a VX CVT on time (1 month waiting) from the new dealership (Perfect Honda) in Trivandrum.
I have been told by the sales persons that, they are telling customers to wait for 6 months for VX CVT, else they can cancel the booking. The minimum waiting period for Petrol MT is 4 months now and Diesel 2 to 3 months. People are asking for Diesel first and when they hear about the waiting period, immediately going for Petrol which is having a much higher waiting period.
The SA told me that this is due to the start of production of the Mobilio.
I would like to know (in general) what production policies car manufacturers (esp Honda) use ? This is in the context of how they group the bookings and manufacture? There are quite a lot of bookings for VX trim and why is it taking so much time for them to turn around? (6 months in some case). Its unlikely to be a capacity issue as they churning out 1000s every month. If there are so many bookings, why cant they group them, manufacture VX and ship! Any pointers here would be helpful.
Could it be the case that honda feels they priced VX less and using the waiting period tact to make customers move to other trims?

May be VX has supply chain issues. They may be sourcing some parts from abroad that are VX specific and not available at the rate required for production. Just guessing, do not really know the reason.

My VX CVT turns 3 months this month end and I got a call from Honda ASC to get my car in for the second service (3m/ 5000km) though I've done 3300 km until now. While the car has been smoothening out progressively, the mileage hovers around 11.7kmpl in my home-office-home runs (mix of crawling ban + an equal stretch of highway run on NH8). Any feedback from other CVT owners who have clocked 2000+ kms on how they are faring? |
@outdoorlover, my SV CVT has done nearly 1800km and with my regular city driving with AC always ON, the FE moves between 11.4 to 11.8 kmpl range. I'm not sure if post 5000km this figure will significantly go up. Have tried using Eco mode for a tank full to full period but hasn't observed any improvement in the FE so don't think that's much of use in city conditions.
People who've done higher runs can comment better.
I have switched my booking from V MT I-VTEC (Taffeta White) to SV MT I-VTEC (Golden brown metallic) after waiting for 2 months. The "brownie" is ready and will be delivered on Monday (hopefully).
My dealer Capital Honda (OMR) Chennai is clueless about the delivery of V MT and I had to switch. However, I saw the Brownie and fell in love with it at first sight...

I was told by my dealership that Honda's vendors are not being able to cope up supply of Sunroof and other speciality parts, given the high demand.
1000km Update
Overall mileage 13.00
Best 25.8 (For a brief stretch of 25 km w/o AC with speed almost constantly maintained at around 80km/h)
Worst 9.1 (for a stretch of 20 kms with full load (heavy luggage and 5 people) in bad traffic)
Anyways , i took the car for its first service today and the bill was 0 , the service advisor told me that the third service with oil change should cost around 4k with mineral oil (he said this is what honda uses and fills the car with from the factory) , from what i know honda developed a special low viscousity oil for the i-Dtec motor , what is that oil exactly , mineral or synthetic ? He told me that mineral oil costs 1.4k and synthetic costs 2.8 k? Can someone explain what's this all about , what oil should i fill her up with?

As far as I recollect, Honda uses a semi-synthetic oil. The difference between mineral & synthetic can NOT be just 50%; it needs to be more than that. For reference, Swift's mineral oil is ~200/- per litre while synthetic is ~1000/- per litre - that's almost 5 times.
I think you can easily go ahead with what came from the factory. Keep changing to synthetic as optional unless you really want it.
I have recently booked an i-Vtec VX MT :)
Can anyone suggest mods to help make the car look sporty?
Thanks in advance.....

I waited for 5 months to get by VX CVT. The car finally got delivered 4 days ago. Its been a great experience so far. I did not go for any accessories but after following this post and with some kind suggestions changed the tires to Michellin P3ST 195/60/R15.
However now I am a bit concerned on Kitna deti hai. I request for some advise here. I got the car with 58 kms on the ODO. Its about 150 kms now and the mileage that I see on the MID is 7. or Trip B (150kms) and 5.1 on Trip A (25kms). This is too low. The tyre pressures are as suggested on the drivers door but such low average is a concern. I haven't driven above 60 yet and its always with ECON On.
Request for some advice on what could be going wrong and how can I improve the mileage. |
I have a V MT Petrol. Have done around 725 Kms in 4 weeks from the date I got the delivery of my vehicle. Initially I too got a mileage of around 6-7 Kmpl, but eventually it increased and now the overall average for the 725 Kms is 10.3 and the last time I did a tank full and have done around 170 KMs since then the average is 12.3 Kmpl. All this driving has been within Mumbai although I wont say crawling speed traffic, but yes a lot of gear changing.
Mind you, This is my first car, so the initial 150-200 kms were actually a learning curve for me, as the only driving I had done was going to a driving school and some odd test-drives and friends car (Maybe max 100 Kms or even less). I also did a tyre upgrade on Day 1 itself to Michelin XM2 195/60/R15.
My advice would be to keep an eye on the green lamps (Economic driving indicator, not the ECON Mode).
What a way to start the 50th post. Its been 2 weeks since I took delivery of my VX MT (D). Its been a wonderful experience so far. Everyone
who had a look has been drooling. Have driven 350 kms mostly in city with about 100kms on highway. Avg at 14.5kmpl. Hope to breach 17kmpl which seems to be the average as per tbhp.
Planning to change the floor mats. Is the PPF necessary. Olden days we used to have Teflon, are these gone?
Does vxmt come with service indicator as I see Service word in the mid.
Thanks
Sathya

Could you please tell what were they doing to the stereo panel and the AC panel?

Congratulations Ranjit!
Could you please tell me what the resolution and format of the wallpaper must be in order to load it up on the head unit? I tried copying some pictures on to a pendrive, but the City couldn't recognize those images.

How much did the CR70 on all sides cost? What is PPF?
