Planning for a new 4th Gen Honda City ....

Ground clearance is a matter of concern for usage in Bangalore ?

The Ground Clearance issues of prev gen City models were addressed in the 4th Gen with a redesigned under-belly and stiffer suspension. GC issues are a thing of the past City generation.

Absolutely no GC issues with full load in Bangalore or for that matter no GC issues anywhere in the south and few northern states that I've covered.

Of course you have to drive carefully (take it slow) over huge bumps on sedans with a longer front overhang and this applies to the City as well.

This is absolutely true. I have owned 3rd gen and now have 4th gen. So I can confidently says that GC issue has been resolved.

Thoughts and opinions, please ?

No. This has been addressed in the 4th gen city by stiffening the suspension enough to ensure that it does not bottom out on speedbreakers or potholes. Of course, one generally needs to maintain slow speeds over these. Otherwise, there is no issue with the suspension.

I am unable to decide between 4th gen and 5th gen city. The 4th gen SV model is amazing value at 11L OTR. Is it worth the extra 2L to spend on 5th Gen V MT? Space is mostly the same, My main focus is on the ride quality. Can anyone comments on which rides better on the bumpy city roads?

Hi All,

I have a Honda City 2012 V MT, that I bought pre-owned 1+ year ago. At that time, the cruise control was working properly.

Sometime during the last few months (not sure when), the cruise control does not work. The 'cruise main' light comes on on the dashboard but when I try to set the speed, nothing happens. What could be the problem - some loose wire somewhere? What should be the course of action?

Honestly, did not pay much attention as the cruise function is rarely used, even on highways but it is still nagging me.

Aashishnb,

For engaging cruise control, some parameters have to be met. e.g. In case of Maruti cars:
1. Gear (car should be in minimum third gear).
2. Speed (Minimum 45kmph at the time of engaging cruise control).

If you are trying to engage cruise control with all such parameters met, it could be a faulty cruise control switch or wire as cruise control is otherwise an ECU controlled software thing as far as I know.

What can be done to rectify this. Can someone guide me what is to be done for this?

Looks like the leather has become soft and lost its quality due to constant exposure to sweat etc at this patch. Since this happened to the headrest, you can do the following:

1. Show it to a good seat cover shop and see if they can gently open the stitches of the seat cover, remove the leather from the surface and glue it back. But I don’t think the leather will last long after this fix.

Alternatively, does Honda offer replacement headrest with same colour leather? Check with the service centre. The difference in colour due to original leather getting darker over time can be recitified by getting the seats cleaned.

Did a DIY. Used iron box in the lowest setting with a thick cloth on top. Did wonders. Now it’s all better!

I was searching for something about Honda City and came across this story.

4th-gen Indian City is being launched in Pakistan as 6th-gen City and even comes with a 1.2L engine.

Guys, can someone please share the 4th gen City's owner manual? I couldn't find it on Honda India's website.

Its not available of the Honda Website since a very long time, I also tried to search online but couldn't find.
Are you looking for something specific in the owners manual?

My car is up for insurance renewal. The Honda assure from Sundaram Honda has given the quote from Royal Sundaram Insurance. This is the proposal with all the available add ons.
Please advise me on which add-ons I can avoid and if I should opt for ICICI Lombard. All my previous policies were Honda Assure with ICICI Lombard. My car is in its 6th year and completed 53000 kms. Valued members please advise me on this.

It is hard to see the level of damage on the photo. It is better to check with local leather upholstery makers. You can check for leather paint. I see one product in Amazon, but not sure about the longevity etc.

Check below Wheeler Dealers video on leather painting (From 4:07)

You may want to use leather 'protectant' for longevity. Almost every detailing brand now has some leather 'protectant' (Turtle wax, Meguiars, Armour All etc.).
