Re: Hyundai Xcent : Official Review

Thanks Parrys for the wonderfully detailed review

Have you all noticed that Hyundai badging of Xcent and Grand means that Hyundai badging does not appear. There is only the big H logo is there. Does it mean that Hyundai is making a statement that the Hyundai Brand is well known in India?

The Verna launched in 2011 had the Hyundai Badging

This is being done since last year, the Verna and the i10 both changed the badges in the 2013 model year, my i10, bought last April has the i10 badge on the left and no 'Hyundai' badge. I haven't seen it this way on the i20 though.

You do get extended warranty. For both, Grand & the Xcent. Not sure if dealers have started accepting this for the Xcent yet.

Also, some dealers provided standard 2+1 year warranty.
From Modi Hyundai, Thane, we got 2+1 year warranty for my Verna in 2008 & even for the Grand i10 we purchased last week.

*Not much discount was pushed for, may be hence the 2+1 warranty was given. Or the dealer is just kind enough.

I have already booked the vehicle. What options do i have to push the dealer to give me the option of buying the extended warranty?
Can i buy the car from this dealer and then later on buy the extended warranty from some other dealer?

You can buy extended warranty anytime during your warranty period. Anytime within the two years from date of purchase. The cost of the extended warranty would differ I guess if you buy it in the first year as opposed to the second year.

There is no need to push really, just keep checking with the dealer for when they are selling these extended warranties. May be this should happen in a month.

Thanks @Parrys.

Folks, anyone has pictures of the S model (with wheelcaps) ?

Also, looking to see how the Folding key of S model looks.

The dealer mentioned that the 14" wheels and covers for the S are identical to the ones on the Grand i10 (Magna / Sportz). I'm assuming the folding key for the magna must be carried over to the Xcent S as well.

Do we have any Grand i10 owners here who can share relevant pics?

Re: Hyundai Xcent : Official Review

Xcent gets 11,000 bookings since launch.

@ KPS: Good catch! Conversely, VW started pasting 'volkswagen' badges on the rear of its cars (a while after introduction) for brand recognition.

Re: Hyundai Xcent : Official Review

Thanks for such a detailed review.

I somehow feel that the tail lamp looks awkward.
It's just my personal opinion though.
I feel that Dzire and Amaze have much better tail-lamp assemblies.

And why did they have to cut cost with integrated head-restraints at the front alone?
When so much attention to detail has been given in even lesser-noticed areas, I don't understand why they had to cut cost in such a loud manner from a very visible area?
If they really wanted to cut cost, then there are still so many other areas which most of the users would never have noticed. This is the only thing that appears a bit too cheap on this otherwise decent car.

Re: Hyundai Xcent : Official Review

Is this really the stalk in Xcent? I see the controls for a non-existent rear wiper in the control stalk.

If you compare the official review of Grand i10 and Xcent, there are a lots of things common. For example, in the Grand review interior fit and finishing is compared to the Swift (phrases like "The Swift no way comes close") whereas in the xcent review the Swift word is replaced by DZire ("The DZire no way comes close"). Lots of text is common in both the reviews. And it actually should be, since Xcent is nothing but Grand Sedan.

So benefit of doubt to the thread starter - must have taken the Grand i10 pic for reference.

Re: Hyundai Xcent : Official Review

A very well written review, Parrys. I enjoyed reading it. Thanks!

I am particularly interested to see how this will affect Dzire's and Amaze's market. It has almost all the features of a segment above.

Re: Hyundai Xcent : Official Review

Thanks for the excellent review!
I booked Hyundai Xcent petrol S (second) variant twilight blue color with the Koncept Hyundai dealer at Green Park, New Delhi on 4th April 2014 and I am told that it would take four to six weeks for the delivery

Hey zenren, good eye there!!

Like DCEite mentioned, since many parts of the 2 cars are identical, a few pictures from the Grand i10 were used.

I've corrected the stalk picture to the one from the Xcent.
